Yeah, PC gaming is so much overkill...people are so insecure. Unless you're doing 4k or 3 monitor gaming I think these expensive builds are impractical, but to each his own.

Some people spend thousands on restoring cars, others spend thousands on gambling, many more spend thousands on drugs and cigarettes, in general people spend money proportionally to what they get out of it, when it is their hobby, for me pc gaming is a hobby, one i get a lot of enjoyment out of.
It has nothing to do with insecurity, or "overkill", simply I have the means to build such a machine without it impacting any other area of my life or financial security, so why not?
To be quite honest, I think the insecurity lies more with the people on the outside looking in, as with everything in life. Many see a guy in a big flashy car, the first thought is "lol overcompensating, probably has a small dick", yet if they had the means to comfortably buy such a car, they probably would, then those who do not would look at that person in the same way.
The rub lies with the attitudes of those with or without, because conversely many of those who can afford such things "look down on" those that can't, but thats a whole different discussion, im simply building the best gaming PC that i comfortably can, knowing it will bring me a lot of enjoyment over the years.

Preach it brother. I had someone earlier this week saying simlar stuff about my build.
Chasing maximum image quality is fun.

I'm still waiting on the Obsidian 900D because of delayed deliveries, so I kinda half-assed the cable management in its current case, so i can easilly transplant once it comes, will give me the space to install some more hardware and put the UPS internally rather than externally!
Oh, imma add you on steam shortly too now its back up and running. (that silverstonetec psu i was using temporarily died haha)

The Obsidian 900D is a very smexy case.
One thing I don't like about Corsair cases is the airflow isn't as high as compared to most Antecs. (Which are in turn, the biggest dust-magnets known to man.)

for the cheaper ones maybe, always found the obsidian cases were petty good for it, the 900D especially so.
Going big because i want it to be as quiet as possible!, so huge fans but slow rotation, lots of air movement and hopefully as little vibration as possible.
Also, this power supply is freaking awesome.

If you want a quiet case, why not going with a silent case? You know, like a Factal XL?
Or you don't like the fridge look?

the Fractal XL doesnt have anywhere near enough space in it, When all is said and done this rig will be running 3x 780ti, 1x Tesla K20X the 1200 watt psu, an internal UPS and 8 mechanical hdds, two ssd and a full 4 card, cpu and northbridge water cooling setup.
