Im actually really tired so Im not going to write a lot(Edit, i wrote more than i thought i would lol) about this but in the last few years gaming has become more and more political.  What I mean is the means of nitpicking a company about something that doesnt directly effect ugames that we are playing.  I know the console wars are for real on the internet but when we are just arguing about things that a company does and says  rather than talking about games themselves it seems over the top.

Im sure im not explaining this well.  Basically what happens is if my preferred company does or says something and im ok with it, but if it isnt from my preferred company i will talk about how evil, horrible, incompetent, etc that they are.  Whether it be Nintendo's Incompetence, Microsoft's Pure evil ways, or sony's arrogance these arguments take place over and over again.

Now i know some things really do effect us like Xbox DRM or the PSN Hack a few years ago, but then there is other things that doesnt effect us like Microsoft saying backwards compatability is backwards thinking or Sony saying PS3 is worth $1000 or whatever the quotes were.  Sure theyre stupid comments but does it justify the arguments over them?  

The thing is people say stupid things sometimes but those stupid remarks doesnt change anything that our games are doing. Sure I wish XBO was backwards compatable and I wish PS3 wasnt so expensive at launch but neither remark effected the fun I had on each console because they have good games. I guarantee you that there is assholes in every studio whether it be Naughty Dog, Bungie, Nintendo EAD, etc.  Sure they make great games but the people themselves as people are unique and like anybody else has made mistakes.

I find the poilital remarks being nothing more than ammunition for console wars with some occasional real issues but that is just me.

What I want is your guys opinions?  Has gaming become political?  Or maybe you disagree with me entirely which is fine as well, your opinion.  Everybody try and be respectful and say whatever you want.

This is for the most part completely correct, pretty much everyone has their preferred console brand and we see that brand through rose colored glasses and use the mistakes of the others as ammo in our arguement to why our brand is better.

The PS3 seriously was worth over 1000$ though and I kinda do agree with MS that backwards compatibility is backwards. It is nice for us as gamers but it does not make business sense

Ethics itself very controversal itself, because we all have differences in our ethical beliefs.

Has it become political? What? This thread would make sense in 1995 maybe, but I think we're well beyond the point of gaming becoming political Just like movies, and music, and pretty much any other form of entertainment.

Id pretty much agree with that.  There is 7b people in the world in which no two are exactly the same.  Pretty spectacular to think about but yeah that many different beliefs and opinions can become controversial as you explain it.

Gaming has become extremely and part of me thinks this is part-adults who grew up during that Nintendo/Sega era going deeper into the rabbit hole of platform wars and part of it is seeing the madness inherited by the generations. It has a variety of effects on the industry, good and bad, but ultimately, it's a permanent thing and the best way to avoid it is to try and just eliminate some of the posting done. I'm a big wrestling fan, but so many fans are extremely negative where I'm fairly positive for the most part. Just got tired of trying to carry some decent discussions that went beyond "such and such sucks." So I went cold turkey for a while, outside of some youtube comments. I found that I enjoy wrestling way more this way.

Gaming has been political for years. There are very few western political campaigns or TV that do not mention video game violence.

Although that you mean is to the point of dedication by fanboys. To that I say, no because it's more like defending your religion. It's what you believe in and you defend it because that's what you do. The consoles are the bibles, they themselves are not accountable but how people use them. Many use their bible for good, they read the scriptures and follow the teachings as best they can and they enjoy their faith. What fanboyism is like is the Westborough Baptish church or fundamentalism. People will pick the things they like to believe and regardless of the teachings will defend their faith, even if defending it is breaking it to begin with.

I honestly don't think this is new or recent at all. I think it has been going on since Sega and SNES went toe to toe. It just seems more prevalent because of how technology dependent everyone of all age groups are now compared to 25 years ago.  Imagine what it will be like when another 25 years pass and we are all really old...The arguments are going to be insane.
