Forums - Sony - Half a billion consoles-Sony

I wonder when will they surpass Nintendo in that regard. Nintendo already has around 670 million units of hardware sold. It's estimated their software sold around 4 billion of units!

About the half a billion part I think they will reach that mark with the help of the PS4! They need to sell about 69 million consoles if I calculated things correctly. I think in 4 years it's totally possible.

If you remove all the Nintendo consoles before the PS1, as well as all the handhelds before the PSP (althought DS is fine because it's the same gen), Sony is actually tracking ahead by a good amount. Pretty interesting stuff.

With the Vita flailing as it is, I can't see Sony winning this gen handheld+console, but I wouldn't be surprised if they still manage to stay ahead.

Yeah sure, if we start taking out consoles, anyone of the two can win. The comparision was about all consoles so I stick to that, but yeah Sony sold lots of hardware.

Can't find anywhere what, the psx sold, can anyone help?

Sony is the home console king and Nintendo is the handheld king. Sounds about right to me.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

You're misunderstanding me, it wasn't like I just randomly took out the Wii or something, I only took out the consoles and handhelds that existed before Sony themselves entered each field.

It's a comparison of how each have faired when competing against each other.
