The problem people have with this is that they wanted a Tomb Raider game, not an Uncharted one. Effectively this new gameplay type killed any chance of future Tomb Raider-like games.

And then people who like the new direction then say 'get over it, games change"

Tomb raider was just a terrible game compared to the old ones. Nothing to do with them attempting to clone anything.

Tomb raider was just a terrible game compared to the old ones. Nothing to do with them attempting to clone anything.

A lot of people liked it. And a lot of critics liked it. It was a great game if linear action sequences are the thing that you like.

Puppeteer comes to mind recently. I mean there's jumping but if we're talking basic elements like that then yeah nothing would be original though I would argue that's a ridiculous way of looking at it.

You should try something like Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. It's an adventure but the controls are what makes it stand out as special. I've played nothing like it.
