Safe to say that the PS4 will do in 11 weeks what took the WiiU a year to do, get to 5 million units.

That said, how does this affect Nintendo? Well, I think it does not, Nintendo is still operating on profit while Sony is bleeding quite a good deal of financial blood quarter after quarter.

What does that mean? Why Sony, like a video game Jesus, sacrifice it´s own life and body to give gamers the best and always get the short end of the stick, does not matter what they do?

Well, I have a theory: this cannot go on forever. In fact, if Sony does not turn a profit in the next two years, it will be done forever, while Nintendo will stay alive with it´s solid profits (even if modest in numbers) and MS will keep milking the Windows cash cow.

PS Plus, the PS4 and the PS Now are the last resorts of the might japanese giant, and they are awesome for a reason: they HAVE to make us want Sony products.

I, for one, think it will pay off and Sony will survive, some of you may not be that optimistic about it.

PS4 will not outsell the Wii U in 3 weeks. Nintendo is not making a profit off Wii U

No doubt PS4 will sell 5 million in about 3-5 weeks and shorten the gap no doubt, but the Wii U will not stop selling, currently at 5.2 million and selling about half of what PS4 is selling. so when the PS4 reaches 5 million, Wii U's sold will be at about 5.6-5.8 million.

Probably not but it will certainly get closer... Its gonna be time to find out soon if Nintendo's games actually have enough potential to keep the wiiU competitive this year

They better make a profit, or else what is the point? I heard it is profitable after one game, sounds plausible.

I think Mario Kart has more potential than donkey Kong, althought I think DK is the better game. Smash is a niche affair in my opinion. Everything else will take a while I think, what else is on the horizon?

Hopefully a Nintendo Direct with more games and I think Smash is more than a niche game... I mean, just look at the sales... It managed to sell 7.07 million during the gamecube era...

Unless PS4 numbers are 3 times more than the Wii U in those 5 weeks, than yes it can. I'm guessing it to be equal or more than the Wii U when the PS4 releases in Japan.

most manufacterers don't profit from the start, Nintendo right now is profiting because of the yen and because of the high 3DS sales, the WiiU still has a negative effect on their profits, but it'll turn a profit soon enough.
