"The Division will not be released this year"
The game that stole the E3 2013 was not American, nor was it Japanese or developed by people who previously fudging with either Halo, Call of Duty or any other best-selling action epic. No, it was entirely Swedish and so incredibly delicious that a whole gaming world dropped open. We refer of course to Massive Entertainment's incredibly yummy online action game The Division, a title Gamereactor reported even before it was announced.
This past long weekend has Gamereactor been in contact with a person from the team behind The Division and learned most remarkable news was in the development phase it is and when the game might be finished. Ubisoft've on several occasions announced that The Division will be ready to be released in the fall, as our anonymous source now denies. Apparently, the studio is not particularly happy with the fact that Ubisoft issued a premiere date of The Division is very, very far from finished. Gamereactor have been told that in principle, only finished with the game's graphics technology and not had time to start building much of the adventure or the game world itself.
"The game engine works well, it is not clear but works well. Actual game development has barely begun, however," claims the source we talked to.
"The fact that Ubisoft issued a 2014 release date seems laughable if I'll be completely honest, we will never have time to release The Division this year. This is a big project, we have very far to go ..."
Ubisoft late last year Watchdogs drawn with bugs and technical problems when we test playing adventure in October 2013. Bringing The Division is not even half done has obviously not been confirmed by the publisher but it would hardly be shocking if it turned out to have had a little too optimistic release date for what we are, right now, believe to be the world's second hottest, upcoming games.
