Forums - Gaming - Just Another Review Thread - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Whether you hated, loved, or didn't even read the last one, I'm making another review! This time I'm doing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the N64, GameCube, Wii, 3DS, Wii U (Sort of), and any N64, GameCube, Wii, or 3DS emulator!

Unlike Sonic Lost World, I've actually 100% played this game, so this one should be a little more accurate.

Teh Story

You probably already know the story, so I'll do this as short as I can without skipping 90% of the plot (Which is long. Get your popcorn)

This does have spoilers, so don't read this if you haven't played the game

Once, there was a terrible war. A dying mom took her baby son named Link (Or Whatever you name him) to the forest and gave him to the Deku Tree, and then she died. 11+ years later, the Deku Tree tells a fairy named Navi to go to Link and bring him to him because his time has come to become the hero or something like that. After getting a Sword and a Shield, he goes to the Deku Tree.

The Deku Tree tells Link that he has to go inside his mouth and stop a curse (I think) After he fights the monster/boss that's inside the Deku Tree, the Deku Tree basically tells him there was no point in any of that because he was already doomed. He then explains how an evil king from the desert cursed him because he wouldn't give him the Spiritual Stone. He gives Link the Spiritual Stone, and tells him to go to Hyrule Castle.

Link goes to Hyrule Castle and meets Zelda. She tells him that the king of the desert, Ganondorf is after the Triforce. She tells Link to get the other 2, and come back to her. After Link gets them, he comes back and Zelda and Impa are on a horse leaving. Ganondorf comes, and ask Link where they went. Blah blah blah, Ganondorf goes in the same direction without Link telling him, and he gets the Ocarina of Time and learns the Song of Time. He then goes to the Temple of Time, plays the Song of Time, then the Door of Time (So many things with "Of time") opens where the Master Sword is. Link pulls it, and he sleeps for 7 years.

When he awakes, he had an aduly body a sage tells him that he needs to rescure the seven sages. After Link does that, he goes to the temple of time and sees Sheik (Who teaches you songs at parts of the game) and he reveals the he is Zelda. Ganondorf captures her after Zelda gives Link the light arrows, and Link goes after her.

He rescues her, fights Ganon, the sages seal him, and then Zelda sends him back to his own time, seven years ago. The end.

Teh Story Rating - 8.5/10

Teh Gameplay

Controls: You use the analogue stick to move, A to roll, B to swing your sword, L/Z (Depending on what you're playing it on) to Z/L Target, R to raise your shield, and L to make the map appear and disappear. In the game, you unlock items that you set to the C buttons. Overall, this works pretty good.

Optional things: In the game, you have optional things. Heart pieces, which when you get 4 it adds one extra heart, Gold Skulltula's, which gives you Ruppe Pouch upgrades and other things. This can be good and bad at the same time

Teh Gameplay Rating - 8/10

Teh Bosses

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!

Teh Bosses Rating - 9/10

Overall Rating - 8.5/10

Is your review biased or unbiased? Either way, it seems like a good game. I'm going go back in time and convince d21lewis from 1998 to buy it!

Well, everyone has bias. I can tell you that this isn't nostalgia blinded, though. I didn't play this game until 9 years after it came out.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME = 9/10? I can't imagine what a 10 out of 10 would be.

You should also mention what version you are reviewing. The 3ds version is much different from the original, especially the water temple. Also, you should mention that this was the first game to use Z-targeting, which was truly revolutionary for it's time.

That's cool.  Standards change.  For Nintendo to release a 3D game for the Nintendo 64 and it still manage to get a high score like that from a modern day gamer is impressive in and of itself.  Most of the games from that era have aged horribly.  I can respect that.  At the time, OoT was magic!

I like that you start your sentences with TEH. It gives it a subtle touch.

Anyway keep up the good work. I tried to do reviews too! They where called short reviews but I got bored of doing them pretty quick LOL!

I'm looking at the virtual console version mostly.

I don't know how the virtual console version is, but with the original you had to press start and sort through 2 screens before being able to switch on/off the iron boots, which made the water temple a pain to complete.

You had to do that in the VC version too. Glad the 3DS version fixed that.
