Forums - Sony - PS Vita needs a new peripheral for PS4 remote play

I think the PS Vita needs a new peripheral for PS4 remote play. Think circle pad pro for the 3ds only much more handy. With the amount of advertising Sony has put into remote play with the PS4, I think a new add on is possible and is one that I would LOVE to see.

It would snap onto the ps vita and plug in via charging port. It would add L2/R2 triggers below the left and right shoulder buttons.

L3 and R3 would still be on the back touch pad, but relegated to the entire left half and right half of the touchpad (much like assassins creed IV does during remote play) which would make using them alot more convenient/accurate.

The peripheral would also add an extra 2-3 hours of battery life to the vita.

Please Sony make this happen! With remote play, I've been able to play with the PS4 all throughout my house and it's worked like a charm. Only thing is... I find shooters to be nearly unplayable. I would buy something like this in a heartbeat. Who's with me?

well... they just need to make a device which allows connecting the ps4 controller with the vita. guess that would solve everything and should not be too hard and to make imo.

I thought of this as well, but its not as convenient. Even if they clipped the Vita above the controller like this...

The vita would be a bit too heavy. A peripheral would be ideal.

^ Also In reality, streaming from ps4 to a phone clipped onto the ds4 like in the link would be the most comfortable. Especially a phone with a large screen. Not sure if that could ever happen though.

maybe Vita3000...

I dont see how you'd get more battery power without blocking the touchpad. Maybe I lack imagination. But you can map the buttons to the screen already.

That's not nearly as conveniant as a set of physical buttons

I was thinking the same thing at first. But I imagine them having 2 large enough spaces on the peripheral to touch the back touch pad, and squeeze in a battery. But the battery is not a must, but it'd be nice.

But yeah, R3/L3 need to remain the touch pad, so they can be accessed without removing your thumbs from the sticks.

There are peripherals for the 3DS that improve the grip and the battery life.  For example:

or

They just have their own battery, that's all.

If this device was to add L2/R2, then L3 and R3 could be the bottom left hand and bottom right hand of the Vita touch screen.  No need for the back touch pad at all.

Wouldn't work. Alot of shooters use L3 to initiate sprint. You cant take your thumb off of the stick to initiate sprint on the touchscreen then move back to the stick. As much as I hate using the back touch pad...
