So I've been noticing some pretty crazy coincidences lately when it comes to listening to music. I'll be listening to a song and it'll directly correlate with something in real life.

A few Examples:

I was talking to my friend about an upcoming school dance. He was telling me about how he had gotten a new suit and that he was going to wear a black tie. Literally seconds later(I had one headphone in my ear) I heard this "With Your new suit and your Black tie" This is a line from the song Ballad of Micheal Valentine by the Killers. That one was pretty amazing.

This one seems a little more coincidental but still cool. I had just been walking in the cold and my lips had gotten chapped so I licked them. Milliseconds later I heard "With Your pitchforked tongue you licked your lips and lied" This another line from a killers song but I can't remember.

This one happened today. I was walking through my campus I notice that there was no cars. There are ALWAYS cars in that parking lot. And then again seconds later I heard "A coffee shop with no cars" from Glamorous Indie Rock N Roll by (you guessed it) the killers.

So these are just a few examples I could remember of the top of my head but this happens all the time. Not only with killers songs but with pandora.

So what do you think?

Firstly, our brain is trained to discard the millions of moments a coincidence did not happen and hold on to when it did.

Secondly, there are thousands of people on VGC. What are the chances one person will have a crazy enough day to make a thread once every few months on it? Pretty high.

Thirdly, lyrics are intentionally vague and about human lives so could easily apply to many things someone could be doing. This is why horoscopes seem relevant to people when they read them.

If you think the world is about you, you are sadly mistaken.

Make sure u don become a killer

I never said this was about me. Also this happens to me often at least once a week. I made this thread to see if anyone elese noticed similar things.

You are just more likely to notice references to things you are talking about.

There is no such thing as "supernatural"

Like soleron said, our brain is made to notice patterns and connections.

But here's something I always notice.

Whenever I learn a new word that I've never heard before, suddenly it's like everyone is using it. Were people always using it before and I just blanked it out? Or is reality governed by how much I know? (dream life theory)
