This is probably going to come across as the alternative to the troll threads, but in all fairness I was going to throw this one out there earlier today but didn't have the time.
Anyway, I figure there might as well be one thread where everyone actually managed to say something positive about all 3 major consoles on the market. I know fanboys may be very protective of their consoles, and some dig two systems but couldn't care less about the third (there are some people of course how love all three), but I figured it may be possible for all egos to be placed aside and people can just say "I can see, even if the concept doesn't work for me, why others love that console. Or, if that doesn't work, just say some facet of the system you dig.
I don't know if this thread will crumble, but hopefully every gamer will be able to think outside of his/her self for this one thread.
Also, please no off handed complements that really don't mean anything. Like, “I think the wii comes in a cool shade of white....” or something like that. Well, that’s fine, as long as there’s more to it.
ps3:
Even though the launch price may have been a bit steep for some, it offered a real bargain for anyone who could afford it. Sony pushed modern hardware as hard as they could and in return, gamers may have themselves a reliable system that will receive a good deal of sony's attention over the next decade. Also, while it was a risky move, the inclusion of blu ray players in every ps3 helped sony to win the HD war far quicker then most predicted.
wii:
A move that no one saw coming, nintendo decided to make a system that focused on the gaming experience over technical advancements. It turned out to be one of the smartest moves in video game history. After successive failures with the N64 and Gamecube, Nintendo realized that they didn’t stand a chance if they decided to go toe to toe with MS and Sony. They did what the company needed to do in order to survive and it paid off big time. Suddenly, millions of non gamers (including parents and grandparents) are suddenly able to approach gaming in a way not previously possible.
360:
While the move to hit shelves just 4 years after the xbox was a controversial one, it's paid off big time for MS. Just over 2 years into its lifecycle, the 360 has sold 5 mil more units then the Xbox did at the same period. Making aggressive moves, they were able to snatch up several titles that were once ps3 exclusives and have used those, and others, to make a solid library of games.
