Selnor believes Ryse is the greatest game ever.

I clearly explained why GT1 cannot be considered "better" than subsequent GTs. Ignoring this blatantly logical explanation, you continue to infuse your own beliefs with the fanfare surrounding GT - in effect blurring the line between the definition proposed in the OP and the general acclaim awarded by subsequent posters in this thread.

It's called delusion in my book.

And if you're not convinced yourself that you are trolling, then I'd have to say that in my opinion (see how easy that is) you are as delusional as Selnor.

Tell you what, name one game that has pushed a genre in a single title as far as GT did, and i'll agree with you, until then, to me, GT1 is the greatest racing game, everything since has been mediocre to great.

and if you cant accept that, then I don't much care.

So do mario 64, the sims,gta3, overlord, resident evil, shadow of the col, wow,  bioshock, half life, doom, DDR oh and wii sports count?

in their respective genres yes, though bioshock half life and doom would be debatable, wolfenstien certainly as a base, but its more a question of have any of those titles pushed a genre which resulted in future games following suit, many of them did, but few come close to pushing a specific genre as far as GT did.

Better, depends on the title, there have been many titles that were worse than the previous installments, and many that have been better,  gt included, for me, realistically, gt3 a-spec is the best of the gran turismos, despite graphical and physics improvements, the overall package was just more appealing as a product.

GT1, however, to me is the beast of the series, because of the sheer innovation involved, it set new standards for a large portion of the industry, console and arcade, while other itterations from a tecnical standpoint are seen as "better" they are incrimental improvements over the groundwork GT put in place.

That achievement, makes it the "greatest" GT of the series.

I believe moderators can see previous edits, so "please understand", the purpose of my edit was to change my suggestion that you must be menstruating at the moment, to an equally whitty and sarcastic retort.

I would suggest you avoid menstrual sponges however and stick with synthetic pads.

And now back to the topic of GT1 for PlayStation 1, You're welcome to continue trying to derail the thread at your own risk :)

As a frame of reference:

Despite owning all of these, I still consider GT1 to be the greatest of the franchise, simply because of the innovation involved.
