South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone were on-hand to present the VGX game of the year award, which went to Grand Theft Auto V.

Parker and Stone offered some of the best jokes of the evening proclaiming the death of television and movies, while alos making fun of the prolonged development time for their own game, South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Representatives from Rockstar accepted the award, thanking fans and the competition for delivering excellent video game experiences in 2013.

Awesome but not surprising and can anyone tell me the nominees

The Last of Us was robbed! >:( GTAV's plot is crap and TLOU is the most emotional game ever!

Big surprise there. Were they actually trying to get people interested in watching the show through this, when everyone (at least anyone who pays even a little bit of attention to games) already knows the outcome?

Broken MP, same GTA.....typical spike.....There were better games released in 2013.. VGA's = peoples choice awards,.

Well deserved I think... GTA 5 was really fun and it has a lasting appeal but so does the other games...

I think all of them, except for tomb raider, would be a great game of the year
