I have been to various retailers here in the Netherlands and in only 2 shops I noticed one lonely copy of UT3 for the PS3 on the shelves and zero marketing for the game at all (nowhere, some old ads for the PC version only). At first I was tempted to buy this game, as I liked the original Unreal Tournnment way back. Two reasons why I didn't:

1) The game appears to have shipped in extremely low quantities, 2 copies in 2 major stores! Other stores had none, I think it's unlikely this game sold out or something considering the complete and total lack of marketing. This game needs a big online community, not the type of game you would play by yourself at all! Yet the shops had hundreds of unsold PC copies.

2) This game is priced 10 Euro more than the most expensive other standalone PS3 game available at these stores (PC version sold at almost half the price!?). Why is that? Sony devs invested in helping to make this port and no marketing costs at all?

What's up with Epic?

Probably the US version, since the PS3 is regionfree. It's easy to see. Look at the rating tag... does it say "M" its US, does it say 16 or 18+, European.

It's not Epic, it's Midway who would be incharge of marketing and pricing. The shops incharge of ordering.

Probably after the less-than-desired sales in the US, Epic didn't want to spend much on marketing. And shops were less keen to order.

No its not it will release on 22 February. Like I said, it was most likely the US version. Also as the game was priced 10 Euro more. I know someone at Ebay Holland who sells even for less

Its not released in the UK yet,plus most places have it for £40 here.

It hasn't released in Europe yet...must be an imported American version making it scarce and more expensive.

I will have a closer look tomorrow, but those 2 shops did not put an import sticker on the box like on imported movies.

Anyone knows if the game connects to a global server? Are there no issues to be expected playing the US version on a PAL system?

Ehm no why should it? PS3 is region free for PS3 games also for online gaming. Could be that the PS3 connects with the American global server, it really depends on what options the developer has put on the disc. I've heard from people that they were able to play with a US version from Resistance for instance through the European servers, but have no idea with Unreal.

im still waiting for UT£ Mac, but apparently it dont have assault and that was my fav map so im consiering not getting it WHEN it finaly comes out on mac.
