Final Fantasy XIV To Be Available on Steam “Soon”, Gets 100,000 New Players Every Month

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is probably one of the most amazing rebirth stories in the history of game development, with the failure that was the original Final Fantasy XIV rebuilt from the ground up and turned in one of the best MMORPG of the market.

Looks like things are going fairly well and new frontiers are going to be explored soon, like the upcoming launch onValve’s digital download service Steam, as Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida told Dengeki Online in an interview today:

With this kind of MMORPG charging starts with launch, and after the initial large intake of user stops, the numbers are either held stable or start declining slowly, with people coming back with expansions and changes. But nearly 100,000 new players come in every month, and a launch on Steam will also come soon. This will bring a lot of new players especially from the United States and Europe.

With the addition of the PS4 version, the launch in China which is the largest MMORPG market in the world, and inquiries from Taiwan, Russia and South Korea for the future, I feel we’re just standing on the starting line.

Considering the fact that I know quite a lot of PC gamers that, while interested, refused to pick up the game at launch because it wasn’t on Steam, not to mention how successful sales are on Valve’s digital download portal, it’s hard to deny that it could be a big chance for Square Enix’s new MMORPG to attract a lot of new players.

Awesome. Hopefully Sony gets a good profit to continue support.

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

100000 a month, it's been out for three. That's a bit of a statement to make...

I do hope the game is a succes, it's quite nice to play and levelling your crafts is addicting as hell.
Although i'm still thinking of continueing on pc instead of ps3. It's nice to play but i still feel left out. Or handicapped.

Bored out of my damn mind...

It's mainly a one day a week game at the moment, but luckily the patch is coming soon.
