Forums - Microsoft - XBOX1/PS4 feel like a beta tester?

Ok..I have been putting off reviewing the Xbox one. So, can't comment on ps4 decided to pass on it for now at least.  (just added ps4 to title because of reported issues from its fans)

But does anyone else feel like they got a rushed product?

So, what was advertised to me: that I would get a media box with an enhanced Kinect experience! (MS stance Kinect most be used in order to get the most from the console)

So, what I really happen they over promised and under delivered.  I can see users doing another class action lawsuit against MS in the near future like with Red Ring of death.

The Kinect still has the same issues as the original Kinect...voice commands spotty (basically gets every other command right in frustration that ratio goes down because you are like fuck you Xbox after running into this issue over and over) and tracking is ok (still don't see any games I would use it for).

Kinect app that looks promising and might justify (long shot) the purchase of launch xbox1 is Xbox Fitness.  If I am able to use it to get into shape then it is a priceless, but I have owned P90X for about two years and couldn't keep on consistent schedule with the program.  So most likely I will use Xbox fitness a couple times a week and then get bored with it.

TV functionally with guide is really cool but takes up the whole screen and isn't transparent, so becomes useless and I use the TiVo guide instead which is nowhere even close to being as good as Xbox one guide.  Then I ran into the drop signal issue a couple of days ago, did some web searches and YouTube searches where having a faulty hardware might be the issue. I contacted xbox1 support through twitter and I was able to return TV function back to full functionality without any frame drops, signal loss, or freezes for now. (cross fingers)

I still use my 360 as primary gaming device and I didn't expect much from xbox1 right away in form of gaming...I know I have to wait until next year titan fall, elder scrolls online, and halo are what I am waiting for.

But I was blown away by dead rising, one the most fun/funniest games I played in a long time.  Story is ridiculous but eh what do you expect from Japanese writers...reason I stopped playing FF and most Jrpgs just same old crappy stories and plots.  Would love a sequel to Lost Odyssey but that will never happen.

The Apps on xbox1 are very limited; I still use my Xbox 360 for everything.

Bottom line: Xbox1 is not worth its price for me right now unless Xbox fitness works out for me...

Xbox1 will never be what they advertised it to be because of Kinect.

Xbox1 will become my media and main gaming device in about a year from now, but until then I will playing my 360 and try out Ryse and Forza for the xbox1 once they drop down to $20 bucks each.  I refuse to get fifa, call of duty, battlefield, madden, and other mainstream titles for the xbox1 not really worth at this time as the 360 will have better experience do to its larger install base for now.

So my xbox1 one will be hdmi pass through receiver until, xbox1 get their shit together...See you in spring 2014 for some gaming xbox1...you have let me down...sometimes impulses take over with a brand like XBOX.

Microsoft you can make it up to me by making a halo wars 2 with full functioning Kinect voice commands.

Please bring back Lost Odyssey also and oh yeah get your shit together!

This is your first console launch? It's always been like this since online connected devices started. The old days not so much, but now days this is the way it is. My new TV had a firmware update a month after i bought it to fix bugs. This is life now as we know it. Even my car has gotten a upgrade to the computer the last time i had it serviced. These are no longer video game systems. even playstion was called a entertainment system, none are referred to a game consoles, no even by the company's who make them.

I have the PS4 and  I have not encounterred any problems with the hardward or UI. The downloads are super fast and I was really suprised how fast it is. I have watched movies and it was cool how you can watch the movie while its downloading and its still in HD!!. I have used the party system no issues. The games (graphics) look amazing I have a 56 inch Samsung 1080p TV and did not know what my TV could do till i hooked up my PS4 to it.  I dont like to say I love my PS4 like some people do but its pretty close to that.

Nope launch 360 also, never had any issues because I knew what was I getting and what was advertised as.

My problem is: "So, what was advertised to me: that I would get a media box with an enhanced Kinect experience! (MS stance Kinect most be used in order to get the most from the console)"

They aren't even in the ballpark right now and like I said it will never be what they promised because of Kinect.

Yes, we are stupid-ass beta testers that spent $400 or $500 or $900 (buying both consoles) to act as beta testers for companies...

Meanwhile, in three years these consoles will be $200 each and be much more feature filled and stable with way more games!...

Welcome to the early-adopter end of technology!

I have both. I think they are both taking a different approach.

Xbox One is putting as much as they can out there on their system. There is a lot you can do on it at it's current state. It just feels cluttered and unoptimized. Their approach is to clean up and refine.

PS4 is starting with the basics. Currently it feels empty with nothing much to do unless you have games. Their approach is to add things that they see will work.

Thats special?  Been doing that for a few years on my xbox 360 and sky box.

The point the OP is making is they arent finished.  As gaming devices they both work well.  But both have either features missing or not working properly.

But like I said, thats electronics these days.  Early adopters are beta testers.

I dont feel like a beta tester with the PS4 havent had any issues but I can see they some people would get frustrated with whats going on with the Xbone sounds like they released an unfinished product with key features left out or not working properly.

Eh the way I look at it is MS took a shot at the future and dropped the ball.

Sony Stance: hey lets see if we can make our ps4 slightly better then ps3 and put online gaming behind a pay wall like MS and mock MS and see if they buy it...looks like there gamble has paid off for now.

I have used the blu ray player and no issues "300" looks crazy.

but thats a very short term view and its a long road.

yeah got off topic with fan boyism...like I said I wll probably be in a happy with my purchase in a year or less, but it will never be what they promised because of kinect.
