Forums - Gaming - EA takes control of NFL lisence through 2012.... mediocrity continues

For all the madden lovers out there, I will say this, good for EA for having the money and the reputation for being able to lock up NFL game licensing for over half a decade. It's a smart move for them as a company.

With that being said, I think it sucks for us as gamers. I'm not saying madden is a bad series, though I think 2k out did them yearly, it's that madden just seems so content lately to add just a little it terms of real content and then update, update, update. I think that competitive fire pushes developers to make something above and beyond what's expected. I don't see that out of madden anymore. Plus, I love variety in my sports games. NFL street just doesn't cut it for me.

To be fair, I guess I'm not the real target audiance as I only get an NFL (or football related) game once every 2-3 years. Haven't picked up an NFL licensed game since EA took full control though.

Favorite footballs games of all time:
1. nfl 2k5 (ps2)
2. blitz 2001 (dc)
2. madden 95 (snes)

Anyone else mind or think EA is doing just fine?
