Forums - Sony - The PS4 Can Execute Several Voice Commands Without The PS Camera

It’s been discovered via the PS4 online manual that the device can execute several voice commands without the need for the PS Eye peripheral. And through user experimentation, a few more functions have been uncovered.

Default uses outlined by Sony:

Home Screen – “PlayStation, go home.”

Screenshot – “PlayStation, take screenshot.”

Log in – “PlayStation, log in.”

User discovered:

Standby – “PlayStation, power, standby”

Booting up a game – “PlayStation, Resogun.”

Many people may beg the question; why is this such a big deal when you are already holding the controller? Kinect offers voice commands without the use of a controller, but the Xbox itself doesn’t allow for any type of voice commands without it. In my line of work, taking a screenshot in-game without having to input anything with my fingers is a real nice addition. It’s also great to have the feature present without the purchase of the PS Eye peripheral. We’ll literally be trying to figure out new voice commands all evening, and will update with anything new.

Welp. Now I don't see a reason for the Eye bundle unless you're an avid streamer. But that's a good thing for the wallet I suppose.

That's awesome! Wasn't aware, it only does everything lol

You're right. Personally i'm way too in love with Playroom though to ignore the controller. It's also a way of wowing my friends, when they ask me about my PS4 lol. I can't really show them KillZone or any other game i like, as those seem too "dark" and "depressing'' for them!!!

ehh... i hate the command ''Go Home'' its sounds failure... should use ''Go To Home'' sounds better

and so seems like no ''On'' or ''Off'' command...??

Didn't we already know this?

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
