You can't redeem codes without inserting your credit card information! This makes me angry, because all I want is to get a PS+ trial and 10$ currency, but it's telling me that I need to insert my credit card information. I don't even have a credit card.

They did the same with the PS3 its absolute nonsense. If you have a prepaid card put that in.

I only have the codes that came with the system and KZ.

It's all about personal info nowadays. I truly despise that but sadly enough you can hardly get around without giving up that info.

This doesn't sound familiar at all with the PS3. Are you sure there isn't an option to skip it or something?

There doesn't appear to be.

You didn't have to do that with the PS3, I've redeemed codes and never given my credit card number.

I had a bunch of free PSN trial codes over the years, but I never used one because it required me to add a credit card number. It sucks.

I have something called e-kort in Sweden. Its basically cards you create with a chosen amount of cash in it that you decide (can be 1 euro or >100 euros really).

That only works on the internet in order to like not give away your real card. Its basically a way to protect from any kind of fraud or whatever.

So yeah, by having that: This shouldn't be an issue :D Can create endless ''cards'' basically.

PS Plus trial code requires a credit card because it auto-renews the subscription at the end of the trial.

You can opt out of the auto-renew later, but you need the card to start the trial. This is a very common business practice.

Perhaps you misread, but trial-based codes you need a credit card. Like if you bought R&C collection you got a 30-day trial and once you redeemed it, it would ask for a credit card number. For codes that you pay for like 20$, 50$, 3-months of PS+, 12 months of PS+ you don't need a credit card. But for trial based promotions such as a month of PS+ Or the 3 months of PS+ Sony was giving away you do.
