I assume you dont play shooters so this comment is hilarious.  Halo doesnt play like any other FPS.  Battlefield is of its own.  Like it or not CoD is one of the most fluid fast paced shooters.  Even TitanFall looks to be very different.  Killzone 2 by the way was very unique with its heavy mechanics.  Also Unreal Tournament is completely different than any of the ones above and Counterstike as well.

When people refer to generic shooters they are saying it is copying a formula (Most likely the CoD formula) but it doesnt have it doesnt stand out either.

That would be like me saying all Jrpg's are generic.  Some are and some arent but if you dont play the genre then you really shouldnt be talking about it.

I do play the genre, and for many reasons fps games are considered by many to the be the mot unoriginal of all.  The Museum of Modern Art just created an exhibit for video games, and they've purposefully left out fps games after over a year of debate for it's uninspiring delivery.  Mechanics make a shooter good or bad, but it takes more to make a truly original or artistic game.  Most shooters are not successful at that, and CoD is one of them.  If there is an actual problem with Killzone, such as bland level design comapred to CoD or framerate problems, I get the lower score.  Calling it unoriginal in a time when CoD is about as inspiring as Madden seems more than a bit odd. 


By all accounts the MP is great. Most people buy FPS for the online MP! 7-8 out of 10 for KZ is a good score!

Some people must be disappointed because I got a call from my local game store, looks like I'll be getting a ps4 this Friday after all :) KillZone SF is going to look amazing on my 92" screen and Resogun sounds like a lot of fun too. NFS rivals for that racing itch, and maybe Knack to play with the kids. Although I'm still playing Puppeteer and Zelda Windwaker HD with them and we still haven't finished Rayman legends. Knack can wait.


92" screen, I am so jalous. But enjoy.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. There is no compelling *gaming* reason to shell out for a PS4 anytime soon unless you really do not view money as an object at all.

Eventually, once the system has some compelling software, the only launch title listed worth picking up cheap will likely be Resogun.

Outside of Forza, and possible Ryse and/or Killer Instinct, this may all prove true for Xbox One as well.

I personally will own both systems eventually.  But will choose between Live and PS+.  I haven't yet made that decision, but as it stands titles I get free from Live will be mine forever, rather than disappearing once I cancel my subscription.

No because I wasn't interested in any of the launch titles. I expected Killzone Shadowfall to atleast get an 85 and so far it's not looking good, but Knack, I knew that game was going to be garbage. Resogun looked okay but another game that didn't interest me. I made a comment about only playing it because I'll get it for free on PS+.

I've never been interested in picking up the PS4 until the Infamous Second Son comes out. I'll get the free PS+ games through the SEN online store.

Surprised only by Shadow Fall. The rest are about what I expected with Contrast being slightly lower. After I read more about Knack prior to the reviews I figured it was going to be slaughtered. Though as I pointed out elsewhere I'm wondering how much, if at all, the scores will fluctuate after launch when more reviews come in. Assassin's Creed 4 only has 17 reviews through Metacritic? Killzone only 18? Battlefield 4 only 10? Halo 4 had over 80 reviews and The Last of Us had nearly 100. I would have thought these games would have tons of reviews to pour over for a new generation launching. Seems like we'll have to wait and see what happens this weekend.

People thought Knack was the next Crash Bandicoot? Most people seemed to think it looked like a poor game from the start. Nothing has surprised me about the PS4 launch except for maybe the Killzone scores.

well, like a lot of people says nowadays, i dont really care about scores or anything... That being said, the line up for ps4 imo is very weak and i wasnt expecting something exciting about these games.
