Forums - Gaming - Sony: Native 1080p allows you to “be a better gamer”

Ugh, I want 3,minutes of my life back after reading that. Can't blame them from trying to capitalize on the nonsense though. 1080p on my PC all these years never made me better. Practice makes you better.......

I guess those who own a 720p only TV are substantially worse at shooters and at a complete disadvantage when they play Killzone against those who have 1080p capable TV's.

Hey, all you 720p TV owners might as well hold off on your purchase of a PS4/X1 because you are at a disadvantage in comparison to those who can afford said resolution......yikes!

What a load of BS... 1080p won't get you a better view if the game's intention was meant to be that way. If you want the enemy to not be seen at some distance in the fog it has nothing to do with resolution but with how much fog you place in there nothing else. If you can't see properly in the fog and resolution has anything to do with it them I'm sorry but you are a bad developer that is all.

It is true, spotting soldiers at distance is easier in shooters, as is spotting incoming traffic or obstacles in racing games.

:-0 It looks like someone gets the point over here.

@OT Shuhei and cerny are actually correct for the most part. It'd be hard for me to spot an enemy in ARMA 2 at a distance of 350m at 360p. Draw distance scales with resolution if people didn't know.

If I understand this correctly, it all has to do with being able to see detail in long distance. I suppose I'll accpet it, for those games that have such features, but I can't stop myself thinking that I probably sucked as a gamer when I was playing 8bit on green screens.

This, I stole from grandpa...It's called soap.

I wouldn't say that better resolution makes me a better gamer. Being a good/bad gamer is something that comes from YOU and nothing the console can actually provide. Sure, better controls, fps and resolutions will improve your experience and make the game "easier"/more enjoyable - bit it will not improve your ability to push the buttons or understand what to do in games. That's all up to YOU.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Haha, now he's just being troll, everyone knows that what makes better gamers is 5.1 audio...

Enemy throws a smoke grenade. I laugh as I still see him. 1080p Bitch I yell. Dead eye shot. Sony says so

Agree i used to play socom as Sniper in a old LG 720P TV now i have a 1080P SAMSUNG TV and it really see the difference .

Yes and no... Depends on the game really

From my understanding... more pixels = less aa needed = less blur = more sharper images but with less jagged edges which does help but it won't make you from being a skanky noob to a wondrous pro by any means
