Forums - Gaming - VGC Adjustments Estimates: Undertracked (3DS~270k)(PSV~90k)! Overtracked (PS3~710k)(WiiU~80k)

Overshipping of PS3? Well I can believe that, the guy from the games department behind MediaMarket/Saturn (big chain in Europe) ordered for every 100 GTAV copies 10 PS3 bundles with GTAV. It is not that big of a deal considering they will sell them probably the next months but now their are PS3 bundles in the X360/WiiU/Dvd/blu Ray sections because they have no place for them in the warehouse ^^'.

You do know that every MediaMarkt essentially operates independantly? So if your local headhoncho thought it a good idea, it's his problem now, not MediaMarkt's problem. (The bigger MediaMarkt here had zero PS3s from Mid-August to almost end of September. Then it had about 10 PS3s for the grand GTA5 opening, and about 80 X360).

The question is who cares!!!  I have them both and couldn't care less if one was to sell 20 million more than the other. People on this site get way to worked up over numbers. Does anyone here have a vested interest in who "wins".

Mega-Lol. Just watch this space when the first PS4 / XBoX One sales guesses come in......

i mean, i million on the shelves isn't unreasonable but from what i read in another thread MS announced 80M shipped a month before sony.  it's really hard to believe sony would have about million more sold at this point given that info.   ..at the very least a pretty close tie.

That's because we know pretty much for a fact that MS rounded up.  Unless people really think they shipped 600K+ in the first 2 weeks of Oct, before holiday sales even ramp up.  Most likely, when MS announced that, they had 79.5M-79.7M.  I would imagine they have actually reached 80M very recently, however.  Anyway, I guess it's just safe to say they are tied, now, until we have further info.

@ OP

Wasn't 360 adjusted down, as well?  If I remember correctly, it was ~600K behind the PS3 when the PS3 was above 80M.

Well it looks like ill have to re-congratulate PS3 for the 80m milestone when it reaches it.

I think the PS3 numbers, even after the adjustment is overtracked. I just have a hard time believing that there is only 300k PS3 in the wild. Is there any fiscal quarter that a console has less than a million units in the market?

So even after Sony and Microsoft confirmed X360 has sold more than PS3 (with their respective 80m announcements) vgchartz still has PS3 ahead arbitrarily to save face?

What would even be the justification for that? Vgchartz can only be assumning there are way more 360's sitting unsold on store shelves. And there's no way to know that (besides being unlikely by plain common sense)

how does Microsoft anoucing 80 million shipped on October 17th Vs Sony anoucing it as of November 2nd confim xbox sold more?

first that's shipped vs the sold tracked here

sencond its a number rounded to an even 80,000,000 there is bound to be some give within that

third di either of them say one had outsold ther other in their statments? or did some sources just put some things in there in their own write ups?

I do agree that there is no way the numbers on the main page are right with the ps3 high and the 360 too low, but I don't think it can be clearly concluded by anyone here that one has for sure sold more.

PS3 still too high, needs to drop by another 500K, if not more given the chartz are only up to 26 Oct. Sony should have at least 1 million units in the retail pipeline at this time of year. I'm sure they've scaled back PS3 production a tad in the expectation that PS4 will eat into PS3 sales, but still they are going to sell a couple million PS3's before 1 Jan.

So, Nintendo shipped 5.13M 3DS from Jan to Sep but VGChartz say that they sold 7M for that same period?

I expect 4.5M PS3s to be sold during the Oct to Dec period.
