I live how you wriggle your way out of this though with your 9.0-9.99. "The PS3 sold 9,999,999 - I was right, it did not reach the 10M mark... woo hoo"..

And guess what? The PS3 is still $269. The price hasn't dropped since 2011. Plenty of room to drop the price and plenty of legs left.

I`m out. There is no discussion with someone that do not accept other opinions and you already show us your grade of knowledge about this theme (PS3 undertracked here...).

My point stands. So one more and I`m done: Sony shipped 6,5 million PS2+PS3 this year (Jan-September), we don`t know how much exactly is the number of PS2 or PS3 shipped, but have in mind that this was the last PS2 shippment and I will not be surprise if the last PS2 shippment quarter was about 1 million, but is just a guess. 

 

And everbody here knows that shippment is different than sold to consumer.

So, they shipped 1M PS2 in 3 months and they decided to discontinue it? What kind of logic is that?

No one knows how many were sold to consumers.

3.5M during the holiday season is more than achievable given that they sold around 6M PS3s during the last one.

Q4 (Jan-March) was the last shippment of PS2 (look the second note), check out:

PS2+PS3 in Q4 = 3,5 million.

Look how shippments drop off the cliff in the Q1, without PS2 = Q1 = 1,1 million (April-Jun). Last year is the same, Q3 (october-december) = 6,8 million. 

Sony deceived the VGChartz numbers, because the PS2 was overshipped (to be discontinued), because of this VGChartz received big adjustments (and maybe still is overtracked).

I think in Q4 Sony will repeat last years numbers, but this is due the launch of PS4 or just a little below.

How about look at the news?

10M in a year for a 7-year old system that hasn't had a price drop in more than 2 years - pretty good. We know that they have more room to drop the price.
