Valve released a Halloween event last year called Diretide for DOTA 2

It was hinted it could be an annual event like Team Fortress 2's Halloween events (now 5 years running).  But never actually confirmed.

Halloween passed this year and no new event lead to some extremly angry fans:

In-game matches led to teams losing on purpose hoping to get Valve's attention

DOTA 2 Twitch was flooded with chat emotes, as well as the main websites of DOTA 2, Valve, Volvo and Barack Obama's facebook

BTW I don't play this game, and play TF2 religiously, and find this extremely over rated

People take gaming too serious. I love games but let's direct that anger towards a plan to develop our underdeveloped and tired world.

On a more serious note, this is actually getting ridiculous. I mean  Diretide is really fun, but crying this much is just stupid. 

I do wonder however why Valve didn't do it. It is kind of strange.

Well it never was confirmed to be a yearly thing, the flavor text of the items just hinted at it.
