Forums - Sony - PS4 will not support media servers, DLNA functionality

pretty dirty for Sony to drop this info two weeks before launch. This should have been known much sooner.

It's no big deal to me I just use it as a game console

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

I don't care as long as it plays video games, really

Not liking some of this loss of features that are on PS3. How do you make a media hub when media functions aren't there?

Hopefully this is just a temporary thing. I've done some content streaming from my PC to TV via PS3 and I would like to be able to continue doing this when I get PS4.

I can probably understand the no DLNA support but no MP3 support? Why? That would like be an easy convenience to give to the gamers.

Well, that doesn't sound good at all. Is it a software matter, so they might enable it later on? It would surprise me if it didn't work for X1 since you can sync 360 very easy with W8.

Nope XB1 will not have any DLNA support OR Windows Media extender capabilities. Not sure on .mp3s though.

Had a very good discussion w the PS4 Dev team today. We're happy & appreciative to learn so many people use and like PS3's media features

This is what major nelson said regarding XBOX stance on this matter.

One more thing: Seeing some questions re: Xbox One & support for CDs, MP3, DNLA etc. I'll track those answers down.

14hours ago and still no response

This, I stole from grandpa...It's called soap.

I have to imagine that this will show up later on. It just seems like something really easy to add down the line.

There's a NEoGaf thread (tried searching for it) with a developer tweet about no DLNA on XB1. It's only one source and since I cannot remember the person who tweeted it I'll have to say it is still unconfirmed.

But just found this thread http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=707051 and this tweet from Major Nelson:

 so...
