Forums - Sony - An EASY way for Sony to make the Vita more successful!!!

i'd say: just wait. i think by the end of next year the vita will probably have a soild userbase in japan that sony and 3rd party devs can rely on to realize more ambitious vita projects.

Just localize the Japanese games, one of the best things about the PSP was all the niche JRPGs that got localized.

Make the next Xperia Flagship a Vita. I dont think the Z1 has less power than the Vita so why not just release Vita games on the phone and some dock that transforms it into a vita.

Two easy steps for Sony to make the Vita more successful!!!

1- Make games
2- Be more successful

If only it was that easy. A lot of people have said this, but it's far from the truth. The new Killzone game is the best fps portable game released (according to people who've played it) and it still had almost no impact on vita hardware. Anyone who has an open mind and has looked up vita games would know that it does have several amazing games, yet it's still dead. Why? Branding. No momentum, not a hot item at the moment, no sales. Apple could make the new iphone exactly the same as the previous model and it would still outsell the vita in a day.

They can't even stop making multiplatform games with the PSP. -_-

Which Sony-developed games have been cross-platform between PSP & Vita, out of interest?

As far as I can tell Sony abandoned PSP development in about 2010.

What was the marketing from Killzone Mercenary compared to Killzone Shadowfall? They do games? Yes, they do. But games dont sell by their own.
How much time they spent at E3 2012/2013/Gamescon 2012/2013 talking about Vita and his games? Why they say "We are pleased to announce that ... game will be released on Vita". Bioshock can be big, but we dont even know if it will be released. Almost the same for Borderlands 2, they come, show the game logo, but nothing more. And then, when they announce a game, they only release a few trailers, no big market campaing and shit.
In 2012 they focused on PS3, shifted the resources to PS4. In 2013, they are still talking about the PS4 and its big release, like the Vita dont even exist. They will keep giving the assets of his francises to small studies(like Resistance Burning Skies) and say "look, we are doing games for PS Vita".
They must stop this port/cross buy shit and do original Vita games, or at least pay for thirds develop some big francises for it, cuz otherwise, it will keep selling like this forever.

While I do agree with everything you said, my point still stands. Release of good games does not necessarily translate into good sales. In other words, they should first focus on how to market the psvita (more attention at e3 etc) and then worry about the games, because the games are there.

You are pretty right!

Make Original Games... Stop being Stupid with Memory Prices, if it costs this much to make those stupid memory cards, they just have just went with microsd

Sony needs to decide what kind of a handheld they want the vita to be... If they want it to be this "hardcore" western, mature gaming system, then stop getting shitty ports of cod and asscreed. Pay them to make legit ports on the Vita. If they want it to be an indie/ports machine, then lower the memory card prices to be competitive with the prices of microsd.

Original games + great ports of NEW games sell... Old games + Terrible versions of popular games don't

Thank you!

It's crazy how few people understand this. Vita needs to be useful. Right now, its only use is as a games/netflix portable machine. ANd phones do both of those.

It's obvious to anyone really paying attention that Vita needs two things.
1. Proper integration with 2.0 society
2. Phone capabilities
