Forums - Sony - The Vita sells badly because it's called 'Vita'.

The reason why the Vita doesn't sell is the advent of the smartphone world domination plan initiated by Apple a couple of years ago. Thanks to it the Vita and the 3DS are performing poorly and will be discontinued by 2015. The consoles will be replaced and all companies that end or start their name with an S will be rebranded.

The 3DS is selling badly?!?  by who's definition?

Fear the advent of the Smartphone world domination plan. Smartphones have already sold more than 100 million units. That is far more thant the Vita and 3DS combined.

Face the apocalypse.

i do think thats part of it. people don't understand.. never underestimate how stupid people are. There are a lot of games for it now and the price is cheap.. re-name and re-brand it PSP2. (ew)

Yep,

PSV is cheap and there are lots of cheap games on PS Store (PSP, PSone, PS+ titles).

For one 3ds game you can have 6 games from PSP library. And the graphics (PSP games) look far better then 3ds titles.

What Vita lacks is a marketing and more PS3 ports (like borderlands 2).

Now when I have both of them I truly regret 3DS purchase. For 583 USD (3ds + games) I have another dust gatherer.  PSV bought for $ 220 and I got more games (Killzone bundle and PS+ freebies) my #1 gaming platform.

It's amazing how differently people can see things.  I also have both systems as do a lot of people on here.  Let's look at your bullet points....

...PSV is cheap and there are lots of cheap games on PS Store (PSP, PSone, PS+ titles)

3DS is cheaper and has lots of cheap games on the eShop.

...For one 3ds game you can have 6 games from PSP library. And the graphics (PSP games) look far better then 3ds titles.

This one isn't accurate because you say for 1 3DS game you have 6 PSP games....The 3DS also plays DS games which would give the 3DS a larger total library.  Then you say PSP games look better than 3DS.....that's simply your opinion.  While some do, some don't.  Besides, it's been proven time after time that the game has to be fun.  All the graphics in the world do not alone make a good game.

People can make what ever excuses they want, but the DS doubled the sales of the PSP and there's a real good chance that at the end of the current handheld gen, that the 3DS will have outsold the Vita by an even larger percent.

Sony has on many occasions touted the Vita as console quality games in your hands.  They don't seem to get that the vast majority of people don't want that.  They want their console quality games on the TV and games that are quicker to pick up and put back down on their handhelds.  That's why the Vita isn't selling.  Smartphones and tablets have proven this.

Stop hating and start playing.

Even if it's call psbad it would still sold well if they had biggest IP in gaming.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Vita means "Life" in latin, ironic isn't it? XD

it might also indicate that it needs "VITAmins" to survive. Its not viable on its own.

Actually, the latin word for life is "Vitae". "Vita" is italian.

Anyway, Vita doesn't sell badly because of its name, just like the WiiU.

Ugh. Come on, man. Do some research before you say things like that. The nominative of life in Latin is vita. Vitae is the genative, dative singular and nominative and vocative plural.

Romanes eunt domus? People called Romanes, they go, the house?

Should have named it DS2.

oh my God we all know this already why does everyone need to point it out (still is ironic)

Sorry but I just got annoyed with this and leading up to the PS4 reveal when EVERYONE had to point out that 4 meant death in Japan.  I must have heard these 2 things repeated like 1000 times

Sorry just a peeve of mine at this point carry on.

completely off topic I bought one yesterday for my mrs for xmas cost £75 after my discount with 8gb mem card and 10 free games to download....... get in

oooo that's gonna fill up quick especially if you have Plus (which you should cause all the great Vita games get given away free pretty much).  I might get one if the PS4 connectivity is cool and it gets some of my favorite franchises on it (exclusive Ratchet and Clank and of course a GTA would help), but I'm factoring in a 64GB memory card so I won't have to pretty much ever switch them.

No, it says Romans, go hom- wait, I know how this ends...

So, what if the sales start picking up for Vita? Will it be because of the name too? The Vita is a great handheld, sales should pick up with more games and content. I plan on picking one up this holiday.
