Forums - Sony - The Vita sells badly because it's called 'Vita'.

Hahaha only if it was just that simple xD

Sadly, it was the bad strategy by Sony that hurt the Vita the most.

Vita means "Life" in latin, ironic isn't it? XD

Actually, the latin word for life is "Vitae". "Vita" is italian.

Anyway, Vita doesn't sell badly because of its name, just like the WiiU.

Ugh. Come on, man. Do some research before you say things like that. The nominative of life in Latin is vita. Vitae is the genative, dative singular and nominative and vocative plural.

You actually believe that?

The reason why the Vita doesn't sell is the advent of the smartphone world domination plan initiated by Apple a couple of years ago. Thanks to it the Vita and the 3DS are performing poorly and will be discontinued by 2015. The consoles will be replaced and all companies that end or start their name with an S will be rebranded.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

I thought the name thing was the Wii U's issue? As people don't realise it is a different console.

And the fact the market isn't there anymore, it's in the pockets of millions of smart phone users.

Hmm, pie.

While smartphones have a big influence, looking at the difference between 3DS ca. 35m and PSV ca. 6m makes clear that there were made very big mistakes on PSVs strategy. Yoshida is the first one that makes the same excuse and he went on record saying this more than one time publicly. To me it´s just making excuses instead of admiting own mistakes and working hard on rectifying the situation.

i do think thats part of it. people don't understand.. never underestimate how stupid people are. There are a lot of games for it now and the price is cheap.. re-name and re-brand it PSP2. (ew)

Yep,

PSV is cheap and there are lots of cheap games on PS Store (PSP, PSone, PS+ titles).

For one 3ds game you can have 6 games from PSP library. And the graphics (PSP games) look far better then 3ds titles.

What Vita lacks is a marketing and more PS3 ports (like borderlands 2).

Now when I have both of them I truly regret 3DS purchase. For 583 USD (3ds + games) I have another dust gatherer.  PSV bought for $ 220 and I got more games (Killzone bundle and PS+ freebies) my #1 gaming platform.

Doesn't matter what the name is.

all this pricepoint and lack of exclusives talk is so damn annoying. it's simply NOT true.
it is the constant shit that people talk, since the vita launched, that held it back then, and still hold it back now.

That's definitely not it.  You want to tell us that there weren't tons of people talking badly about the 3DS during it's first year?  It took a better price point and games that people really wanted to play to get the 3DS moving.  I have a Vita also, and have had about 8 retail games.  I tend to play the smaller downloaded games (PSPminis) from the PS Store more than anything on it.  I don't want some super in depth console experience on my handheld...that's why I have a console.  I would rather have games that I can pick up, play for 15 minutes and put back down.  The Vita has a very limited market at this time.
