Forums - General - Does remakes Hinder one or the other's experience?

Never been a big anime fan personally but somebody got me watching Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood lately.  And even though it was made after the original FMA it also followed the Manga much closer.  Never thought I'd really like an anime much but I loved it.  So much so that I watched the original series.

Well guess what I hated the original -_-  Ending was dumb as hell.  So I watched the movie.  Yeah it sucked too -_-  THe show its self was still good just the ending was so meh >.<

So now that i have that bad taste in my mouth it seems like it has hindered Brotherhood for me as well.  Or maybe vice versa, not sure yet.

My question is does remakes hinder one or the other's experience?  This can be said about Movie, Games, shows, or anything else you want to talk about.  This is the first time it has happened to me personally.  Ive watched and played plenty of remakes that ive like both time ive played or watched so idk yet.

For anime... Yes if you seen the original (since you already know whats going to happen), No if you are new to the series

For example, There is No way in Hell could I see **spoiler*** the little girl being turned into that thing twice which is why I never watched Brotherhood, Maybe I will someday

For games... If the game has a proper remake such as Wind Waker HD then it doesn't hinder the experience, but if its a bad remake or just remakes with slightly upscaled textures, then yes
