Forums - Gaming - Playing PS4 through the Xbox One "won't be a great experience" says Penello

The Internet was ablaze with reports yesterday that the Xbox One would be able to play the PlayStation 4 through the HDMI In port. Senior Director of Product Management, Albert Penello was quoted at Tokyo Game Show as saying, "Any application can be snapped to a game...this could be the live TV feed, so if you wanted to be playing Ryse and Killzone at the same time, you could snap that." However, today he's taken to NeoGAF to explain that while it's a possibility, it wouldn't exactly run perfectly.

"I'll get back with a more detailed story, but long story short it won't be a great experience, and I indicated as much in the interview which wasn't included," Penello commented, "HDMI latency is fine for video feeds, but not great interactive."

Sounds like someone was just looking to draw some attention to their site. "Its also funny to me that this was basically a quick question I was asked after a UI demo, which I answered, but its written like I made a big deal about it..."

Is this a repeat thread ?

Xbone: It only does everything.

So when Major Nelson mentioned a few months ago that the Xbone would be able to play Xbox 360 just as always through HDMI he was bullshitting? Because that's interactive as well.

Why would anyone want to do this anyway? You would have to buy an Xbox One and then buy a PS4 just so you can stream your PS4 through the Xbox one... whats the point? I don't get why everyone made this such a big deal.

For some people, the thought of it would be convenient to switch back and forth through the Xbone's GUI rather than changing "source" on a TV remote. It's kinda cool, I'd appreciate the feature if it was possible.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

Because then you could marry the best features of each console?

Use the DS4 to play your PS4 game, and then use Kinect to snap internet and other xbone apps to the side.

Seems like input lag would increase and graphic fidelity would take a small hit.
