I personally didnt really care much about family sharing as I buy all my games and dont depend on sharing them with friends. I just wanted to see these aging console boxes start learning new tricks... |
Pretty classic case of finger pointing. They both do it. This is one example, and you'll see it play out. It's just not a feasible feature. Sharing games like that...it's not just profit hurting, it's profit annihilating, both for MS AND for devs...especially smaller studios and Japanese developers.
When xb1 was announced, there were two features that said to me, "this is why I need an xb1".
One was snap-in.
The second was the sharing program. Don't go making the mistake that your opinion on sharing is the final say. There was HUGE excitement for the sharing feature that was never described in detail. Seeing it go away was a big turnoff. I have a lot of friends whom I would have shared games with. Yes, to an extent sharing already exists...but this would have been massive. It was a "too good to be true" feature. And it remains that way today. You will NEVER see this feature come to fruition. Guaranteed.
(Disclaimer: Unless MS somehow finds a way to monetize it. Say, for another subscription fee, or ads, or time limit, or some such revenue generating scheme...like 15$ per game, not playable at the same time as owner, or something like that.)
