It's been reborn for over two years. There was the DSiWare sequel which was very successful and is on track to be ported to PC (finally), and there's another Shantae game slated for release on 3DS this year (which also looks great).
But it's great to see it reborn in HD with a beautiful hand-drawn artstyle, that's for sure. XD
