yeah I don't get it. Are people that ADD that they can't do one task at a time? I was never playing PS3 and wanting to even party chat (seriously I don't think I'll ever use that except on the rare occasions where I'm playing online and usually that's just to play with my friends where we'll be in the same lobby). If I want to talk to someone who's not gaming then I'll call them on the phone. Video chat is useless because I can't be watching who I'm calling while playing a game or watching a movie. I'm watching one or the other. If you don't want to really get into a movie or game I guess you could constantly switch your eyesight and attention from one to the other but I like to get immersed in those things so even party chat doesn't really appeal to me.

Skype is one of the best software around. It takes a special kind of fanboy to put a negative spin to this.

Why do you need to be doing anything while video chatting? Why cant it just be a video chat to see a friend or family you havent seen in a while and lives too far away to see on a regular basis? Thats what video chatting is mainly for. And if it is using Skype, it means we should be able to connect ot anything that has a skype account.
So just because it doesnt appeal to you, doesnt mean it has no value.
Might as well, it has good use on my Vita.

I was talking about why you would need it on a gaming console. I mean most TVs and all PCs and Macs already do it so multitasking is the only thing I could think of.

My TV is only a couple years old and was a top of the line TV, and it doesnt have that ability maybe if you bought one in the last year but even thats only for the high end TVs with cameras built in. And not everyone has a PC/Mac hooked up in the living room. Is it possible? Yeah but is it practical for everyday use? No. Most people still have a desk they put their computer on. So having a machine capable of Skype or other video chatting in the comfort of your living room is a nice thing to have. Especially if you have multiple people in one room for the video chat, a living room can easily accomodate that, people huddling around a desk would not.
I wouldn't mind. I like skype. It would be cool if eventually ps users could talk to xbox users, and possibly even play xbox users in certain games specifically designed for it.

We'd probably use it. The microphone on our PC is crap and we don;t have a webcam for it. And it's a little bit of a pain to hook up a laptop to the TV every time we want to skype.
We'll be getting the PSEye when we buy PS4 so having Skype on PS4 would be very handy.
