I do not think you are really looking for a real explanation but if you really want to educate yourself; you can use Bing (or Google I guess looking at your post history and the "love" you have for Microsoft) and look at what Microsoft Azure / Amazon S3 or even Google Computing (in preview). Nothing to do with Gaikai or anything like that.

Computing instances and VCPUs is all about what Microsoft is envisioning, nothing remotely close to what Gaikai or Online are... And YES, computing instances can obviously act as a dedicated servers so it will be mostly used by for that as it does not requires any special codes or synchronization patterns in the games...

This thread will just be another bashing fest anyway, good job we did not have enough of these lately!

The issue is it wont make any diff right now, cloud is 10 years away, Sony and almost every compnay knows this. Nothing is stopping sony from adding servers for the cloud as needed as it grows. Right now it is typical MS bs.

No one said anything about gaikai in this thread........MS didn't invent cloud computing,m nor are they the only ones using it, SOny is already going that way and they have said it is the future, FUTURE being the key word. For gaming right now, it is not going to do muchn of anything.

You posting your oppinion about Microsoft PR bullshit a good amount of time in this thread. We got it the first time...

You are right about one thing tho, nothing is preventing game dev. to use Azure/Amazon to do the same on PS4 (and pay for it as it does not come FREE for every Ps4 games like on the Xbox One)... But no, Sony do not have any datacenter able to provide that kind of computing power to million of consoles like Microsoft... You are just plain wrong about that... And the cost to developp such infratructure is way behond what Sony would be willing to do for the PS4. It took 10 years for Microsoft and Amazon to put that up; even you believe Sony is an half-god; this cannot be magicaly done :)

Whjere is your proof sony does NOT have a datacentre to house such infrastructure?

MS CLOUD was never just for X1, if you think that you are blind... MS cloud is for theirt whole company. Nothing more then a PR tactic. When the games come you will se.

Xbox fans have been saying SONY doesn't have money for years, said it about price cuts, PS4...They have way more clout and assets then you realize. They have struggles but are still a massive conglomerate.

lol dude just calm down... And leave the "MS fans" / "Sony fans" out of this thread or I'm going to report you.

It is a WELL known fact that Microsoft have Azure and thousand and thousand of companies out there are using it(Apple IS using Azure / S3 for their iCloud) are using them. Sony DOES not have anything close to that... What the hell are you talking about proof... Just use Google and look for the major players in cloud computing... Also you should take the time to understand what is means to allocate millions of vCPUs for the consoles out there, it is not a matter of just having the hardware (which Sony does not have) but also the software and the whole infrastructure to handle that... Microsoft and Amazon took more than 10 years to build that up...

You may believe that Sony may magicaly comes up with a in-house solution for that in few months but that's only you :)
Now the possibility for PS4 devs. to use external providers (Azure or Amazon S3) is still there anyway, why are you so upset about that lol ? Even Apple is using Microsoft Azure, it is just how business is conducted, nothing abnormal here.

"Whjere is your proof sony does NOT have a datacentre to house such infrastructure?"

Well, that is the same question of "where is your proof that God dosen´t exists?"

Still waiting for your proof sony has no data centres, despite the fact they already have thousands of servers all over the world. How do you have intimate knowledge of Sony infrastructure?

You are spewing speculation with zero proof.. Also, again, many cloud options are already available, this is NOT a MS only thing. Unless you can post concrete numbers, proof, then I will take anything you say with a grain of salt. Maybe a bucket.

MS cloud is a company wide solution not just for x1.

MS has been building cloud ech for 10 years? OK, proof?

Most games will be multi-plat, many x1 gamers wont even play with a internet connection, so the benefit to this for the x1 will be minimal.

Real benefits of cloud gaming is years away, many years. Right now it is a way for MS to spin their BS marketing, and was going to be used for their anti-consumer policies.

lol proof, proof? Take a break dude :)

Also if we follow your way of thinking; can you give me a "proof" that Microsoft does not have a space station orbiting Jupiter from where they are trading secrets with an alien race? I mean, I'm pretty sure you cannot "prove" that, right?

You're the one who said Sony doesn't even have a datacentre or room, the burden of proof is on you, I am not the one making wild speculation out as fact. It is obvious you have no ideas of knowing half of what you posted, it is more of what you want to believe.

Do not put words in other people's mouth... Seriously, at first you said we said Microsoft invented the cloud... Now you are saying that we said Sony does not have any datacenter... Stop assuming or pretending :)

Sony does NOT have anything close to Azure or Amazon S3... You are the one fliping out and coming in the defense of your all mighty Sony with your datacenters/rooms and proofs story.

Anyway, can you give me a "proof" that Microsoft does not have a space station orbiting Jupiter from where they are trading secrets with an alien race? I mean, I'm pretty sure you cannot "prove" that, right? I really want to know that one.

Proving something like that BS is hardly the same thing as facts about a companies dealings, public documents. umm, seriously, that's moronic.

Who is freaking out? Not me.

How do you know what Sony has/Doesn't have or have planned?

MS cloud is a company wide service, hardly just for X1, and nothing is stopping sony from slowly adding it as it's needed, the CLOUD is still a long ways away from being practical.

I never said anyone said they invented the cloud, I said they never because MANY are acting like they are the only ones who can use server technology, it's laughable. Sony can easily use the same things if it becomes a big competitive advantage, right now it isn't, Sony knows this so they are not going aroung throwing around arbitrary server numbers for PR benefits. When the games launch this will be apparent.

lol okay!

it would not suprise me if they planned something like onlive
could have been their initial setup with allways online so games could be streamed to your machine without having the best hardware in it
