They clearly don't care about their own product. They haven't talked about it, nor have they shown anything for it, except for The PlayRoom. However, The PlayRoom is not going to get people to buy it, unless someone has kids so they can play with it. And for the people who don't have kids will use it for like 2 weeks and let it gather dust. And I do understand that the camera can detect what player is sitting where in a splitscreen game, and change the screens where you are sitting. But why haven't they shown that publicly!

Microsoft and Nintendo both have their own peripherals, but they don't need to show how it works because it comes with every system. Sony's camera isn't coming with the system, so they need to advertise is as much as possible to get people to buy it. Something as simple as making a YouTube video about all the features that it can do.

At the PS4 reveal event, Media Molecule showed a tech demo (which I'm assuming they used the camera) of people sculpting objects and making puppets dance and playing instruments. If that was indeed an actual game, E3 and Gamescom would have been the perfect places to show it. But I guess they don't have faith in it. Without any games that utilize the camera, I don't see it selling well.

So, for the people getting PS4's. Do you plan on getting the camera?

How much is the camera? Like 50$? Yeah I'll buy it. Not at launch but maybe some timer later. Why not right? I have the PS Move and the camera thing that came with it. Rarely use it but I still bought it just cause what the hell. It was on sale for cheap.

Absolutely no need for it. Happy Sony didn't force me to buy it

When I get a PS4 in the future - I will not be getting the camera as I dont see a use for it for myself.

You say you're going to eventually end up buying things in the future all the time

Its probably more of a back up now incase features of the kinnect become popular on Xbox then Sony will promote the eye camera more.

The problem, I think, is that there is no win/win scenario here. Sony's route to make their camara/sensor optional and secondary has good and bad aspects. Microsoft's decision to make Kinect mandatory has both good and bad aspects.

Personally, I don't care anything about having a camera on my gaming console. I'd rather have the extra money it would cost so I can invest it into a game. I doubt I'll ever buy the thing unless it's cheap and they come out with something amazing. I just want to play games. All the other stuff is just pure, unimportant fluff. I don't need to speak to it, I don't need to gesture at it, and I certainly don't need it to post my picture on some kind of social network.

They dont care, I dont care! nobody cares!!

Forget about talking to the camera or posting selfies, I doubt many people care about that. Without any games for it, not many people will buy it. I'm pretty sure if they came out with an amazing game, people would probably run out and buy it. But I think they fear that even if they do come out with a game, no one will buy the camera.

Why focus on the camera now when the should be focusing on the console and the games?  They can focus on the camera later when the actually have some games that utalize it.

That's a good thing
