See I was hoping you could back that opinion up since, you know, you state it as a fact.

Aside from the fact that it's easily visible, there's also the fact of diminishing returns, and I'm not talking only about polygon count. Last gen the big change in the graphics department was because of the move from forward rendering to deferred rendering. We won't be seeing a similar move this gen since deferred rendering is already default, so, for sure, the graphical difference won't be as big as it was before.
