Batman: Arkham Origins will not release on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, Warner Bros. Montreal has confirmed.

Senior producer Ben Mattes ruled out the potential for a next-gen port on Twitter earlier today, saying: "I can 100 per cent confirm that Arkham Origins will only ship on the announced platforms. It is not coming to PS4 or Xbox One."

The game is due to release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Wii U on October 25, just days before next-gen consoles are expected to ship.

It isn't yet clear why Warner Bros. has chosen to skip a release on next-gen systems, particularly given how good the game looks on current-gen. Could Rocksteady be preparing a true next-gen Batman title for the future...?

More on Arkham Origins is expected to be revealed during Gamescom next week.

I know I'm not getting a PS4 or X1 because there are just too many games on current gen I have to buy.

Because Origins was just a quick stop-gap to tide people over this year. Rock Steady's new Batman game in 2014 will probably be next-gen only, and it will be... amazing.



The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Same here. I'd rather use that system money to buy all the games i need.

Yay! There's a third party game WiiU gets but not ps4 or Xbone.

i wouldn't mind a justice league in arkam fashion. Is it going to be dark?

Idk we know next to nothing about the game, making me think it will be a 2015 release, not 2014.
