Because I would be, very much so...

In case anyone here doesn't know, Shonen Jump is one of the oldest and most popular manga magazines in Japan, having originated many of the most beloved manga/anime series both in Japan and outside of it. Examples of this include Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Mazinger Z, Rurouni Kenshin or Hokuto no Ken (AKA Fist of the North Star) to name a few. You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weekly_Sh%C5%8Dnen_Jump

Being a fan of several Jump series as well as Capcom games in general, I've always thought this would be a good match for a VS game. Jump franchises offer a multitude of interesting warriors to choose from, which I believe can very well mix with Capcom ones due to being part of the same culture and having many points in common, whether it's on personality traits or fighting techniques. These abilities have a lot of potential when it comes to creating move sets, from a gameplay perspective. And it also occurred to me that other non-fighting characters and their settings could be used as cameos throughout the game, like say, stages based on Captain Tsubasa and I''s, with funny things happening in the background, or something of the sort.

While we are indeed getting a new Jump crossover fighter now as part of their 45th anniversary (J-Stars Victory VS) and we did also get other ones before (Jump Super Stars/Ultimate Stars and partially Battle Stadium D.O.N.), none of them are similar to Capcom VS games gameplay-wise, so they're not replacements here.

I do realize how difficult it would be to release this game in the West due to all the licensing issues that would arise (even though we did get Tatsunoko VS Capcom...), but frankly, I don't care. I would import the game if I have to, no matter the platform. All I want is for the game to exist.

If you're interested, you might want to show support for the idea by signing this petition:

http://www.change.org/petitions/capcom-and-shueisha-make-a-shonen-jump-vs-capcom-game-2

(Yes, I know, a petition... Keep in mind that the point here would be just to express enough interest in the idea so that Capcom considers it, and that it doesn't cost more than a few minutes at most to sign it. A few fans have already been asking for it for a while at Capcom Unity, but having a popular petition would certainly help a lot...)

Anyway... Feel free to tell me how wrong and delusional I am in the comments, if you must. The more people read this, the better ! ^_^

EDIT: I made my own version of what a character roster for the game could look like. You can see it in this post. Feel free to share yours !

I don't think it'll matter much, but...

We'll probably end up getting a mediocre Bandai Namco game that will never reach the west. After all they've made more games from Shonen Jump mangas than any other developer.

When will somebody make a Sega x Capcom crossover petition?

Absolutely... depending on how it played.

You know, I don't usually care about these "vs." games. This one, however ... yeah, I'd be interested.

i support anything that brings kinnikuman with it. Those guys were my role models.

Considering that Namco seems to have the rights to all Shonen Jump games it will never happen.

Former something....

I don't believe this is the case, as Jump Super Stars and Ultimate Stars were both published by Nintendo. And there's also a few rare cases where the rights seemed to be platform-dependant, such as Naruto games on Nintendo platforms which were published by Takara-Tomy, or Bleach games published by Sega on GC/Wii/DS while Sony created their own on PSP/PS3. Seems to be more of a case by case basis than anything.

But... Namco also has all the rights to all the Tekken characters...

And I should also mention...

I'm not familiar with it, but it seems to be a good match for Zangief or Mike Haggar... ^_^

Jump characters are so OP, this would be the most one-sided fighting game ever :p

Sure, sure... But if you can have someone like Phoenix/Jean Grey on Marvel VS Capcom, anything goes !

"Something, something, universal physics. Something, something, energy source. Something, something, power levels." Done.

One crazy idea at a time... There's always room for more though.

In any case, I'm happy to see others interested here. The question now is, how many of us are out there...
