Forums - General - How Long Can We Keep Living Like This? (Not Video Game Related)

*Warning this is very depressing so if you don't want to hear it leave now*

Here is a song that touches on a lot of the problems we are facing now and in the future, you can mute the song if you want, just watch the video:

1. This is the one that pisses me off the most because I go out and see people wasting water washing their cars, I see people wasting water leaving sprinklers on all night, I see people spending an hour in the shower, and I see people leaving taps running becasue they really don't care if they waste water.  I mean we have plenty of it right?  The Earth is covered in it right?  Wrong, only 2.5% of all the water in the world is freshwater, and it gets even worse because out of that around 70% is in ice and snow cover in mountainous regions and around 30% is in groundwater.  We only have 0.3% available to us to use!  I can't stand when people say we have plenty of water, because the truth is we don't, and we are running out faster than people think.  Now there is a way to turn saltwater to freshwater, but it requires an enourmous amount of energy and is extremely expensive, so don't rely on that saving us.

2. Population is growing at an unstainable amount.  Currently we can make enough food to feed anyone, ofc we dont.  At the rate the population is growing there is no way we can make enough food to feed everyone by the time the next generation comes around.  I know people are thinking why don't countries just do what China did, just make a restriction to one baby per family?  Well the truth of it is China's population is still growing, although the rate of it growing has gone down, the one baby per family rule takes time to show results and as of right now we are out of time.

3. Soil erosion.  This ties on with what I was saying before, we are losing land that we can grow food on as time goes by.  As of right now only 11% of the land on earth is fertile soil and that number is only gonna go down, and to feed the next generation we need to increase food production by 40%, that number is only gonna go go up.  Yes there are GMOs, but currently that technology is no where as developed as we need it to be.  It is terrifying to know that maybe there will not be enough food to feed your kids, or the price of food will skyrocket and you can't afford it anymore.

4. Global warming.  Everyone knows what this is, everyone knows the consequences, but it feels like no one cares tbh.  Just keep living in luxary as long as we can and fuck the next generation right?  The people that defend this are the same people that refuse to ride the bus, or the train, or the subway, or ride a bike.  Its not gonna be long before more and more land starts going underwater, and with the population growing, need more land to make houses and us needing more land for food this is gonna destroy us.  Its not even the rising water level that's the only threat, there is gonna be way more natural disasters, such as wildfires, storms and heat waves which will cripple our food output.  I hear people say, oh we'll be find there will be electric cars...  Electric cars have been around for years, but guess what no one buys them because they are so expensive to make and they will never replace cars that use fossil fuels.

Anyway this list can go on and on and on, but I guess I better stop here.  So what are you guy's thoughts and opinions?
