Forums - Sony - Sony XDev Europe Teases “Fantastic Announcements” at gamescom, Shahid Ahmad Talks vita games PS4 Development Dream

If you’re not already excited for gamescom, it’s time to start getting titillated.

Sony XDev Europe tweeted:

Looking forward to Gamescom in 2 weeks and some of the fantastic announcements we have and working with @PlayStationEU @PSAccess

Sony XDev works with independent development studios, with the games published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Previous XDev collaborations includes ones with Quantic Dream, Relentless Software and Sumo Digital. Sumo Digital of course is heavily rumored to be working on LittleBigPlanet 3, but here’s what we know about all the other unannounced PS4 exclusives.

Sony’s development site states:

XDev has built up an enviable track record of innovation and new IP generation, winning three BAFTA awards for “Buzz”, Develop Industry Excellence Awards for Best New IP twice with “MotorStorm” and “Buzz”, and in North America, winning eight awards from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) with “LittleBigPlanet” and its developer Media Molecule.

Meanwhile, in other gamescom news, superannuation tweeted:

I guess something that was supposed to be announced at E3 2012 might be announced at Gamescom.

I wouldn’t get very excited about it.

And in other PlayStation news, SCEE’s Shahid Ahmad has posted:

Just under a year ago, I brazenly claimed I wanted to make Vita a natural home for indie devs. Well, I’m about to say something else insane.OK, but I qualify this by saying this is my personal dream, not a corporate manifesto, OK? So don’t sue me. Purely personal….

My dream is that one day, it becomes easier overall for developers to make, test, release and support a PS4 game than a PC game.

As well as teasing for the Vita:

We have scores of [Vita] titles coming out, Vita definitely gets love

Sony’s gamescom conference is at 7pm CET / 6pm BST on Tuesday, August 20th.

Sony deserves to burn in hell for shutting down Zipper and Psygnosys, they were great. We will never get MAG2 or a next gen Wipeout =/

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

If they show nothing but a slew of more indie titles for the Vita, it's as good as dead. Even one AAA title will suffice at this point, yet they've been unable to show one since last year's Gamescom.

What can really save the Vita? Only thing I can think of is Monster Hunter.

I agree they better announce something big fro the Vita. I was pretty disappointed with how little was shown at E3.

Killzone: Mercenary!

I'm actually really looking forward to gamescom. Sony showed nothing internal at E3 except the Order, and that's only half internal.

They have so many teams ready to show games it's crazy. Plus House Marque will be there with the spiritual successor to Super Stardust :0 Probably a PS4 launch game.

There were plenty of people from Psygnosis/Studio Liverpool that ended up working at Evolution Studios and Sony owns many of the good IPs that Psygnosis was known for. Zipper Interactive wasn't worth keeping open if Sony had to make decisions on what to consolidate. That studio hadn't produced what was largely recognized as a great game since 2005.  As far as what games we will get, Sony owns both of the IPs you're talking about. It's not like closing down Studio Liverpool and moving a lot of the staff means we won't get another Wipeout game. If Sony thinks another Wipeout game is a good idea they have plenty of studios with multiple teams who could work on one. Evolution Studios usually puts out a game every year. Entirely possible that they could announce a new Wipeout for 2014.

Hopefully Vita gets some love at gamescome. I feel like I heard the same thing about the Vita for E3 but yet nothing new was shown.

           Survivor Millennial vs Gen X!!

i hope there is uncharted 4 coming out!
