I think you're right, but you must not forget that the competition includes Nintendo.
Leaving it out of your equation means that your marks of accomplishment are characterized by a certain a certain business myopia.

can you really call nintendo direct competition to sony or microsoft? it doesn't produce near the graphics and most games are based on the motion sensing controller (like wii sports) instead of sitting there and pushing buttons (mario galaxy or sony/ms game).

but this is good for the ps3, not many big time apps and micrsoft has already used its big guns (halo) while sony's big guns are set to release this year (mgs4, gt5, maybe ff13).
