Now you all try to justify 512 MB? So numbers do count? Let me put it this way: a typical os with 3 GB DDR3 vs the same os with 3 GB GDDR5.... how would it perform under let's say - common sense usage scenarios.

If you add swap in HHD you have 8.5GB total memory and not 8GB.
5.0GB Games
.5 Swap
So... 3GB for OS?

Not graphics related ones - obviously.

Yep that's one way to tell whose a hardcore sony fanboy on gaf. If they were upset about 5GB and are now ecstatic about 6GB it just shows they want the ps4 to have more ram then X1 available for games. Pretty pathetic really.

yeah 3gb for OS, which i find as no surprise at all, id be even less surprised if they made it 3gb after they found out MS were using that much, but Sony would never admit that.
this 1gb of flexible ram is actuallly extremley developer friendly, id also be surprised if MS dont have something similar. Just no one has felt the need to do an in depth analysis of there ram set up. All windows operating systems have had this swap file setup so its not a new invention, but it is new to Sony consoles.

Very very pathetic indeed. I'm on the ps4 side, but if this was all about of who have it longer, this has been the most stupid shitstorm in gaming forums in a while....

That's the point... no graphics evolves every task that a PC can do and DRR3 and GDDR5 have advantages and disadvantages.
Now if you are talking about latency only I can tell you the DDR3 used in Xbone and the GDDR5 used in PS4 have the near the latencies... it is like 12 to GDDR5 and 10 to DDR3... you won't see difference in the use of the OS.
To be fair I expect the Xbone OS to perform better because MS is OS company with Windows and everything... Sony is more hardware focused... but I'm pretty sure some here will spin saying it is because the GDDR5 vs DDR3.
Yeah... consoles and swap files.... this whole concept pisses on the console concept.
(not sayn this ain't happening; just hating on the idea)
