Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft What Are You Doing?!

So apparently The Crew and The Division require you to be online to play...WHAT?  Honestly did Ubisoft learn nothing from Microsoft's horrible reveal?  I'm a little worried that all of Ubisoft's next gen game will follow suit and be online required too.  Watch Dogs and AC4 are on current gen consoles too, so those don't count.  My main problem with this is if I pay $60 for a game I expect to own that game forever, with an always online game your basically only renting it, as soon as they shut down the servers for the game then it becomes a paper weight.  I have seen both of these games and there is nothing that should require an always online connection, they look perfectly capable of being played offline too.  All my excitement for these games basically just died...  What do you guys think, are you okay with your games becoming paper weights after a few years, or do you like to hang onto your games and play them whenever you feel like it?

considering they are online games i dont see the problem

.....Did share button mean something to you, once that was announced, I already knew :L

I don't think, it'll be as bad as you make it but it could get annoying  in a way. :/

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

It worked "well" for Diablo 3 and SimCity so what could possibly go wrong?

EDIT: If they are multiplayer only then that kind of makes sense.

Well the crew is pretty much a mmo and I dont know that much abiut division so no comment

Aren't these two games specifically only online multiplayer games?

In the Crew demo you see a guy doing a mission by himself then when he can't do it he gets some friends to help him...there's no reason why I can't play that mission offline.

Define online game, because if the Crew demo you see the guy doing a mission by himself, there's no reason why he can't be offline.

No...having a built in PVR didn't click with my games being online all the time...I don't know how those are even related.

Both of those games seem like they were meant to be played online anyways. "The Division" is an MMO and I haven't seen much of a story from "The Crew" and judging by it's name (crew) I'm guessing it was never meant to be played alone.

I'll reserve judgment until they announce Rayman and Assassin's Creed have to be played online at all times.
