Forums - Sony - 16GB Vita Memory Card for $29.99 - What can we predict from this?

Its not a case of who's right or wrong, memory cards are just one of many issues which has plagued the system. For me the Vita was always a slightly niche device, but it failed pretty hard in appealing to its targeted demographic, the hardcore gamer. The same informed gamer who doesn't just blindly buy a device, ignoring the fact that a decent sized memory card cost $100 at launch.

Except when you say that Vita likely lost many sales because of memory cards, it means because of memory cards...not because memory cards are part of a bigger problem consisting of many issues.

It was MY point that memory cards have very little to do with it in the grand scheme, and the worse problems are lack of games and no console price cut in the face of an extremely cheap competitor product.

If you meant to say that memory cards are only part of the problem, as you are saying above, then I agree. If you're saying that memory cards are responsible for a large loss of sales, then I disagree, because that conversely implies that cheaper cards will sell systems, which it will not....it'll only sell more memory cards and more PS+ subscriptions.

The smart thing to do would be to blowout the old smaller memory cards as pack-ins and discounts during the holiday, and then replace with the larger cards in Jan. Using the word "FREE" along with "60$ value" and maybe ps+ for 3 months so you can write "10 free games" which will inevitably not fit on the vita pack in card, requiring a -holy shit- brand new much larger memory card at a cheaper price, is the right way to go if they want to market this memory card pricing change. Would go well with a subsidized temporary holiday pricecut, or the inclusion of 3g and dropping the wifi, so they can also say 100$ cheaper, when it's really only a 50$ drop, since 3g only costs them a dollar more than the wifi to manufacture.
