Microsoft reaffirms its commitment to Xbox One

"Microsoft’s may have a new CEO and new leader for its Devices and Studios division, but despite rumors and speculation, the company is still committed to its Xbox brand. During a recent SXSW panel, Microsoft Game Studios’ Phil Spencer discussed how the company’s new management feels about the Xbox platform’s role.

“In a funny way, our job is to create great games on Xbox, on Windows, on Windows Phone, and the stuff that happens above the studios is kind of just ‘stuff’ to a lot of the studios, which I think is the right way,” Spencer said. “They’re still driven by the creative juices inside the studios to make great things happen. In terms of Microsoft’s commitment in the space, I know both Satya and Stephen Elop, I know them well. I’ve had explicit conversations with them about Microsoft’s commitment to Xbox — they’re extremely committed to Xbox.

“Xbox is a really critical brand for us as a company as Microsoft; when you think about consumers, what they love about our company, Xbox is one of the most beloved brands that the company has. We’re in the middle of a good, competitive battle in the console space with PlayStation, which is great for the industry. And they remain extremely committed to us succeeding with Xbox, which is nice to hear, right? It’s something that resonates well inside the walls when you’re talking to the teams, or when I stand in front of Xbox fans, I want to make sure that they understand we are extremely committed to this product.”

Prior to being named head of Microsoft’s Devices and Studios division, Stephen Elop reportedly said that if he were CEO of the company, he’d get rid of the Xbox platform. Whether or not this is factual, the former Nokia boss is now in charge of the division that houses Microsoft’s gaming brand. It’ll be interesting to see what direction the company takes the Xbox platform during and after the Xbox One’s life cycle."

I have to read through some 300 posts? I guess that's what the Titanfall embargo does when lifted.

Bastards.

The Xbox One Titanfall bundle just gained another 10 spots on the Amazon's bestsellers of 2014 list, up to #79. Very impressive since it's only been available for 2 weeks out of 9. I really think we could see 200k+ Xbox One's sold worldwide for the week of Mar 9-Mar 15.

200k seems pretty plausible. Titanfall itself will be over a million easily, especially backed up by 360 and PC.

Can't wait to see the final weeks of pre-orders also!

Finally got in about half an hour ago.

Going great, but the campain is worse than I expected.

For a while, I wasn't even expecting a campaign...

Hope it isn't too bad though.

Also, can someone link me to the Titanfall review thread?

I'm searching for it but can't find it. Thanks!!

I have a confession to make....
