MS needs to consider an early price drop, PS4 is just too appealing atm. idk what Nintendo can do...
What bad news??? 82k is great... Once again being first is completely irrelevant... Making huge profit is.... If both console breakup analysis are to be believed MS is doing just fine and probably still on top in net profit between the margins on XB1, ad revenues, xbl revenues and royalties....
there is absolutely no incentive business wise to drop price right now...a bundle maybe if anything

This is a long race. Check out the PS3. Horrible launch and all that jaz, but ever so slowly it turned things around. I think doing a similar thing with XBONE (slow and steady) makes more sense than doing a bunch of quick and expensive changes. Plus they do have TF coming.
A $500 bundle with that game will do a lot.

They can learn off of Sony. They cut price in 8 months. So if this trend continues, I would drop price around August, September by $100. They need to show why Kinect is worth the power differnce and price. So if Kinect doesn't perform like they thought, they need to take the hit cut the price to match. Essentially saying you get kinect for the same price as PS4, with all of sony's loses as of recent, I don't think they will drop for some time. A TF bundle with the game would help. They need to Make the bundle they original designed. Take the $50 hit on the game.

Yeah, I'm sure they can turn it around if they make smart decisions. It is still concerning though, the Xbox One was tracking ahead of the PS3 during it's first January, and VGchartz numbers for this past week suggested that it would start tracking ahead of the 360 during February as well, but now that we know VGChartz had the Xbox One overtracked for January it's looking like the Xbox One may track behind both the 360 and PS3. A nearly 2:1 loss in their strongest market is quite bad, if they don't turn that around soon they're going to lose all kinds of exclusives by default. The PS4 already has considerably more announced exclusives, I don't want to see that get even worse. |
In the east yeah, PS4 is going to get a lot of third party exclusives. Over here though that wouldn't be as common. Even if XBONE has worse sales than Wii U, these owners are much more likely to buy third party software. The ports can be profitable even if the install base isn't that great.
Also the only third party PS4 exclusives in the west are MMOs and indies. Those have nothing to do with sales, so XBONE should be good there in the future.

Japanese games are definitely something that I'm worried about. Microsoft was making headway on that front last gen, the 360 was getting a decent number of Japanese games mainly because the 360 was doing so well in the west that many western fans of Japanese games were buying Japanese games on the 360 instead of the PS3. But if the Xbox One's marketshare in the West is this low that's going to really hurt Microsoft's ability to get ports of Japanese games, it's already looking like MGS V: Ground Zeroes may sell 3-4 times better on the PS4, that's sure to be disheartening for Japanese companies who were considering releasing their games on the Xbox One. |
I guess I should have looked at your avatar. Didn't realize you were into eastern games. That's really not something I know much about. At least you can import them, right?
