TitanFall Hard To market  without Singleplayer(Bigger Doesn't Make Better)

Titanfall is one of the most anticipated games of 2014. You would have thought marketing it would have been easy, but apparently that's not the case. During a long multi-answer thread on NeoGAF, Titanfall's Producer Drew McCoy revealed the difficulty that not offering single player gave:

"Its actually been really tough trying to accurately market Titanfall. If you look at what we've done, its a lot different than what most FPS games do. Without a bunch of highly scripted SP moments to recam from different angles, the usual "movie like" trailer is just about right out. Instead, we've decided to show unedited gameplay segments that last 3-5 minutes (so far - more footage coming, of course!) to show the "flow" of the game. Starting as a Pilot, taking on AI and other player Pilots, wall running around a Titan, earning your Titan, climbing in, battling other Titans while stomping on humans, ejecting, etc. There's a huge amount of gameplay mechanics available at any one time, and encompassing them in a few minutes is actually quite hard to do."

He also revealed that they approached it with an open mind, after letting people get hands on with the game.

"Its also why we took an extremely early pre-alpha build of the game to events like Gamescom, PAX, etc. to let normal dudes hands-on time with the game. There's no amount of polished marketing that can replace playing the actual game."

Titanfall has been under fire lately for revealing a max player count at 6.

To be honest, I've waited a long time for a company to say "bigger isn't necessarily better". It's one of the issues I have with a lot of FPS games online where the maps don't compensate for the sheer amount of players crammed in.

I like to be banned every now and then, it gives me more time to play.... but I have been tired of the same BS.... at least before they were a bit creative.... now it is just more of the same.... not even fun to make fun of them....

Halo AAA In the Works (Halo 5 or something else?)

We all know that 343 Industries is working on the new main chapter of the Halo series, but according to a new career opportunity ad seeking a Online and Connected Experience Engineer, they may also be working on another one.

Below you can see an excerpt of the ad, with the relevant parts underlined.

343 Industries is searching for a rock star engineer to join the team developing a new experience in the Halo universe. Work on one of the most exciting and creative intellectual properties in the industry; we are gathering an incredible team to help drive the future of Halo.

We are looking for a talented software developer with the skills and drive to help us deliver the online and connected features of a AAA game title. As a candidate, you should work well in a highly collaborative, cross-group role, should be able to make appropriate engineering decisions to meet requirements and mitigate issues, and should be passionate about delivering a quality experience and overall product.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an online and connected experiences developer, you will collaborate with designers, services developers, and other developers to deliver polished code that powers the online and connected features of the game. You will author design specs, write prototype code, extend existing code, and implement new code. You will fix bugs and solve issues in code and design. You will collaborate to resolve problems with dependent systems.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
-At least 5 years of professional C++ experience
-Experience with services development (as a consumer of service features from client code)
-Strong communication and problem-solving skills
-Experience shipping a current generation AAA game title

From the post we learn that the “new experience” should be an AAA game and will have prominent online features. Some of it might also be provided in the form of a “service,” involving Microtransactions, but that wording is vague and could mean quite a few different things.

The required experience on current generation consoles might hint to the possibility of the game landing on Xbox 360, but even here it might just mean that having worked on current gen consoles is enough to work on a Xbox One project considering how few developers actually worked on the new generation on consoles so far.

This also casts an interesting doubt on the assumption that the concept artwork teased a few days ago was from Halo 5. 343 Industries’ wording on it was quite vague:

In closing, I will leave you with this image from Sparth – an early exploration of a new location that features prominently in a little game project we’re tinkering with….

While many (including us) interpreted it as tongue in cheek, hinting at the next main chapter of the Halo franchise, the “little game project we’re tinkering with” might very well be something else.

Of course we should take this with the proverbial grain of salt until an official announcement is made, but this should definitely pique the curiosity of Halo fans waiting to play more of the beloved science fiction franchise.

I have a question is XCOM worth it on sale right now on XB360??? what's the difference between the two also ????

and been trying to play Project Spark, my i5 4gb ram with an intel integrated chipset... can't play it on low res (it's a 2 year old tablet PC) so I'm waiting for the XBO beta..... but that game looks awesome even with the major lag....

It is the same posters over and over and I have tried to tell selnor that but I guess he just can't help himself. Nsanity I think just doesn't care, he doesn't mind a ban if thats what it takes to get his point across. I feel the same way. It's worth a ban to remind people of their place sometimes.

Another problem in the case of guys like selnor is the moderation here is just sporaddic as hell. Regarding his ban, I don't understand why its ban worthy to call someone a troll when they are in fact just trolling and derailing a thread. Especially when the moderator banning, doesn't at least then also ban the troll(s). Look at these two posts:

I make a detailed, opinionated post about a game, keeping in line with the topic of the thread, and 2 guys respond basically telling me I am a fanboy and the extent of my issues with a particular game is its not on my console of choice. Adds nothing to the conversation, is flaming, baiting, and trolling. Banned? No. Even just a warning? No. If selnor went into say, a Forza 5 thread where people were discussing legitimate issues with the game and told someone "hey u just dont like it cuz its not on playstation!" he'd probably be banned 3 minutes later. So I would guess sometimes he just doesn't think what he posts is ban worthy, because the same rules clearly don't apply to all users. Not implying there is some Sony/MS/Nintendo tier for moderation, but user v user, yes it's clearly the case. Main reason why I don't post as much here anymore, it's mostly just people regurgitating NeoGAF news and people trying to bait responses out of you to get you banned. When Titanfall comes out I'm getting an Xbone, if not sooner, I'll just stick to this thread ;)

Reporting both those at this very moment.  You are right about those two posts.  Id recommend everybody in this thread to start reporting stuff like this more often rather than arguing with them.  Id prefer to see people get banned for this type of behavior rather than people getting baited in and getting themselves banned.

And welcome to the party.  I cant wait for titanfall xD  Im so tired of BF4.  I really dont know why i continue to play that game. Its an ok game, just not my style.  None the less, its the only competitive shooter i have for the time being since i dont want to buy Call of Duty Ghosts.

Calling someone a troll is against the rules......Whatever, idk.  It depends on which mod reads the report to whether or not they will do anything about it.  You just got to test your luck i suppose.  I report often.  And a lot of people has been banned because of it. As i said before, if people are going to display that kind of attitude then they might as well get kicked for a while and learn that it isnt acceptable.

I was just reading through that thread though and xD  I loved all the back and forth not so cunning passive agressive comments. "bro" and "Cute" were the two that stuck out to me lol xD  Those kind of comments just reminds me of immature teens arguing.

As for Halo and TitanFall xD  I can coexist with Halo, Gears, Killzone,and CoD so i dont mind adding TitanFall in that.  Unfortunately CoD may have to take a backseat since i havent bought the past two installments.  After the real IW left they went downhill.  MW2 was the last great CoD in my opinion.  Now their studio is filled with a bunch of weinies getting easy money -_- THough that is prob more activision than IW.

Gears is sadly over with now.  Judgement was horrible!  Never let People Can Fly touch it again

So really it is interesting, TitanFall looks to be the first FPS in a while to really shake things up a bit.

On the other hand Destiny is looking awesome too.  <3 Bungie.  I hope they announce competitive MP in it.  I have no idea why they wouldnt.  Bungie is so good at it!

Every time I get bored of Ghosts (which takes maybe a couple sessions, then I take a week break or so) I think about getting BF4 and then I see people online bitching about connection issues and the game just being rushed and I change my mind. If next gen is bad I can't imagine what little effort they put into the PS360 versions.
