So I'm kind of bored right now so I figured I'd do a little review for Forza 5. My reviews are out of 100 with points going to the following categories. I'm really only going to do these for games that I've fully experience (fully beaten the campaign and spent some time in MP so that I know what's going on with it, and at least tried the various co-op gametypes).
Story/Campaign - Worth 15 (the lack of Multiplayer or vice versa means that it would be worth 30 points instead of 15)
Multiplayer (including Co-op aspects) - Worth 15
Fun Factor (the most important part of any game IMO and it's basically an extension of gameplay) - Worth 25
Gameplay (including AI, animations, and game design) - Worth 10
Visuals - Worth 15
Sound - Worth 10
Value - Worth 10
Forza Motorsports 5
Story/Campaign - 9/15
There really isn't much here for story or a meaningful career progression at all which is a bit of a letdown since other racing games like Horizon and NFS have shown us that, despite being cheesy, it can be done for racing game. The campaigns main saving grace is that each championship league has a couple minute voice clip done by Top Gear. Additionally, the driver level and affinity bonus (which can be increased by anything you do in the game really) add to the campaign.
Multiplayer - 14/15
Self-admittedly I've only played one online race thus far but I looked at all the game variants and options for Multiplayer and it's almost limitless what you can do. I've also spent a decent amount of time racing rivals (which is an absolute blast!). The fact that when someone is purposely trying to ruin the race for others, their car becomes a ghost and they can't hit anyone is definitely nice.
Fun Factor - 22/25
Frankly Forza 5 is an absolute blast. Despite some obvious flaws, the game is a joy to play. The only thing that brings down points in this section is the track selection is quite limited which can make the game a bit more repetitive than it would have been otherwise.
Gameplay - 4/10
As far as how the general physics and control response the game is wonderful but the drivatars is what kills the gameplay. The fact that it's impossible to be around AI without getting divebombed is pretty detrimental to the game. If you were able to turn off drivatars in the pre-race menu that wouldn't be an issue, but unfortunately that is not possible at this time.
Visuals - 13/15
Forza 5 is certainly one of the better looking games I've seen. The car models are especially gorgeous. The only downside to the visuals is some track environments can be inconsistent (some tracks look great, some don't look as good) and the serious aliasing going on in the game is very noticeable.
Sound - 9/10
The cars sound phenomenal, especially on a decent sound system. And the music works great with the menus of the game but the only downside is it can kind of be distracting during the game itself (which is why I have it turned off in game).
Value - 8/10
Whilst the game doesn't offer as much content as previous Forza games, it still has a plethora of content. The hundreds of races, badges/achievements/titles to get, and extensive car editing (both paint, and tuning) mean that there are hundreds of hours of time that can be put in this game.
Overall -- 79/100 or 7.9/10
Forza 5 is a game that is definitely worth the purchase if you have an Xbox One. While it's certainly no system seller, if you are at all into racing games, this game is a must own title.
