Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive News
Microsoft has focused on promoting its Xbox One launch titles with the console's release this Friday with highly anticipated games like Quantum Break from Alan Wakedeveloper Remedy Entertainment and Sunset Overdrivefrom Insomniac Games taking a back seat since their reveals earlier this year. Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer gave an update on both in an interview released Wednesday.
"We did a pretty deep dive [on Quantum Break] last week while we were in Europe, and I'm feeling really good about the creative," Spencer told Polygon. "It may be before the end of the year when we talk more about what the story and the gameplay is... We have a pretty good piece that I'm trying to coerce people into putting out before the end of the year ... showing the full Remedy vision, with Sam [Lake] giving a pretty good description of how the game works with some new gameplay footage.
"Maybe VGX would be a good place for that."
VGX is the new name for the Spike Video Game Awards and is currently scheduled to broadcast on Dec. 7, 2013.
As for Sunset Overdrive, it sounds like Insomniac Games is almost ready to begin showing the game off as well as it is now playable. The game's "vertical slice," a section of the game that represents the gameplay, was recently passed as well though its unclear at the moment if the game will make its originally announced 2014 release date.
"We're playing a full section of the game and feeling really good about the open world gameplay that they've put together. I like the investment around new IP at the launch of a new console," Spencer said.
