Japanese XBox One Game Teased

Deathsmiles developer and former Cave head Makoto Asada has released a teaser site for his mystery Xbox One game,"SHINASUTIMIKIRA Project", which is being developed at 5pb subsidiary MAGES. Asada appears to have his own team now, "Div8" - the latter's logo is a skull and shotguns motif. That's about all there is to go on.

Asada quit Cave in September 2013 in order to continue to work on consoles. "Cave had announced that they were going to take a break from consoles and stuff that goes directly to the consumer, and that's really what I enjoy about what I do," he explained toSiliconera shortly afterwards.

"When I was going to quit Cave, about 10 companies contacted me to see if I was interested in joining them. Out of [those companies], MAGES had the best deal. Our president offered me the opportunity to explore and really do something interesting."

There's at least one big Japanese Xbox One exclusive we don't know about - recently promoted Head of Xbox Phil Spencer keeps dropping hints, the saucy devil. The Asada project may not be that game - 5pb doesn't appear to have a track record of creating headline exclusives.

Asada recently worked on Constant C, an XBLA robot puzzler from IGS that's on sale now.

Eh, tell me when they bring Tales back to Xbox.

Man I wish it would! Sadly I don't really see that happening unless MS has some deal down the line.

I find that odd too since according to many people Vesperia is the best in the franchise and it sold very well on X360.  Just like I think MSFT recognizes the japanese fanbase in America, i think japanese devs needs to recognize that their is Japanese fans in America

But Namco's interest for the Tales franchise is Japan. Vesperia did okay in Japan, whereas Graces F or Xillia did great. They don't care about the fanbase overseas (the fact that they haven't localized Vesperia Ps3 is a testament to this), they just want to appeal to the japanese market.

That's why since Symphonia 2 on Wii didn't do good either, they ignored Nintendo consoles as well, minus for the 3DS port of Abyss.

On a side note, Outlawaron told me that Namco purposedly blocked content on the 360 Vesperia game. Namely Patty, the exclusive character for the Ps3 version and some bonus content. Some people discovered the programmed code of Patty into the 360 game, and on the game there's actually some references to this character, which never appeared anywhere.

I checked it and it is true. Though no one really knows why Namco pulled out this.

Hey Jay, I think we should just let Titanfall and Forza have their wins now lol.

Wow I actually suspected this but never thought it was true... that's a scumbag move.

Amazon now Displaying Metacritic Ratings

Online giant Amazon has started displaying Metacritic scores alongside many game listings.

Metacritic, which is owned by GameSpot parent company CBS Interactive, aggregates review scores from numerous publications and produces an overall Metascore between 1 and 100.

The Metacritic scores can now be displayed to the bottom-right of the game's box art or next to the link for Amazon's customer reviews at the top. Many games on Amazon's store now feature an accompanying Metacritic score.

The Metacritic user score, which is separate from the critic score, is also shown.

Amazon is now the second major online retailer to feature Metacritic scores on product pages, following digital distribution platform Steam

Voted Titanfall. Played only about 10 matches f ghosts... It was enough.

How Xbox Can Beat PS4 According to Xbox Co-Creator

Xbox co-creator Ed Fries has laid out a list of ways in which he believes Microsoft can improve its fortunes in the Xbox One vs. PlayStation 4 "console war." Fries said success against Sony in the long run is going to come down to Microsoft executing on a range of software and services.

"They need better exclusive games than PS4. They need to be more open to indie developers. They need to adopt free to play gaming more aggressively," he said on Yabbly. "They need to continue to move Xbox Live forward as the leading online service. They need to show people why they included the new Kinect on every machine by demonstrating a compelling use for it."

Early sales give Sony an advantage in the Xbox One vs. PS4 sales race. Sony's system has sold over 6 million units as of March 2014, while Microsoft sold 3 million Xbox Ones in 2013 alone. Microsoft has not announced a new sales figure so far in 2014, but is expected to later this month during the company's upcoming earnings report.

Also on Yabbly, Fries said he's skeptical about the virtual reality phenomenon that's made headlines of late withFacebook's surprise $2 billion purchase of Oculus Rift and Sony's own Project Morpheus head-mounted display for the PS4.

"I'm not sure what Microsoft is up to these days. I hear rumors about all kinds of cool stuff but will it make it to market? After watching 3D TV fail so spectacularly the last few years, I'm a bit of a skeptic about VR, at least for the broad consumer market, but for hardcore gamers, who knows? Maybe it will work and bring some amazing new experiences," he said.

"General users however are a different crowd," he added. "Given how little success the consumer electronics companies have had with 3D TVs with glasses, I am skeptical that general users are going to be strapping this thing onto their face any time soon."

Microsoft is rumored to be working on its own VR/AR technology, and the company even recently reportedly paid $150 million for wearable computing assets.
