3rd Birthday in my eyes killed the Parasyte Eve franchise. I have no idea what they were thinking with the story. I would stick with just 1 & 2 and never even consider 3rd Birthday to have ever existed.

Third Birthday.....

You know, being a lonstanding Parasite Eve fan, I preordered this one.

It tried very hard to be good. There are a couple of really epic boss battles with some great Silent Hill atmosphere and visials going on, and gameplay is phenomenal for the PSP, if not a touch abusive of your trigger finger. Unfortunately, as other people have pointed out, the story is complete crap. The team lost the Parasite Eve novel license in the middle of production, so the name and every reference to mitochondria had to be ripped out. 3rd Birthday is basically disemboweled remains. As a shooter it stands out as excellent because It's got great gameplay...and shooters with good stories are few and far between.

Oh, and if you do ridiculously well you get to see Aya underboob in a shower scene. Really? You went for an M-rating so you could do that?

It's a great bargain-bin game, but no more. Very disappointing for the Parasite Eve pedigree.
